New spin on a Great lil'pack rifle

My brother has one...at first I didn;t like it... COuldn;t get a good group at all... but it was just a matter of experimenting till we found ammo it likes...after reading the reviews on line for a while that seems to be the popular consensus.. It is tempremental in regards to what ammo it likes to eat.. but once you find the right combo you have a good gun

hello John,
I agree, I will try CCI 22lr mini mag ammo 1st and work thru the other rounds I have.... after I buy the gun of course LOL

Been out of the firearms side of things for a long time, but I thought this was standard thinking within the gun community. That your firearm is only as accurate as the ammo? I realize that there are a lot of guns out there that are more forgiving of ammo load quality, but with something as light duty as a 22lr, I would think ammo would be one of the most important factors. Am I wrong?

absolutely right brother... but allot of other folks might not be aware of this... they might just scoop up a brick of what ever is on sale and get a few jams or bad groups and right off a perfectly viable firearm.

The real crime is that I legally can not own that particular firearm where I live as any rifle or shotgun with a magazine capacity greater than 5 rnds. cannot be registered. (and all rifles and shotguns must be registered, and require a permit) LAME

Does anybody remember the Springfield, later, CZ, survival rifle? It had a single shot .22 barrel over a .410 The stock held extra rounds.

Why, Oh why, didn't I buy one back then?:grumpy:

I picked one up yesterday. I went in to Dick's to special order one of the black models and the guy at the counter tells me that he has a silver finish one in the back that another customer had special ordered but decided they didnt want because it had a scratch on the stock. His manager said they could take some off the price for the scratch if I wanted it, so I snatched it up.

Awesome cant wait to hear results...

I owned one of the Charter Arms versions of this rifle 20-some years ago - an inaccurate jam-0-matic.

If I wanted a 'stowable' rifle today, a Ruger 10/22's barrel can be removed in seconds and with a folding type stock would take up little room. More accurate, reliable and you could leave a small scope attached to the receiver :D

.

Other customer is a moron. What's he think is gonna happen with a plastic stock with silver model paint on it?

I'm thinking about wrapping the stock and barrel with Mossy-Oak tape or something similar.

I prefer my 10/22 with a collapsable stock the best choice of me while packing. The stock has a pistol grip that stores a cleaning kit, and the allen wrench for removing the barrel.

I've been wondering if it's possible to take the Ruger 10/22 compact model, and put it in a collapsable stock.. that would be a pretty compact gun..
