HAP40 is a high-speed tool steel produced by the powder metallurgy process. Containing generous amounts of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt, it possesses exceptional toughness and high abrasion resistance, making it an excellent candidate for blade steel. This unique limited edition Sprint Run combines all the proven design features of the best-selling lightweight models with full-flat ground laminated blades made with a central core of HAP40 flanked by layers of SUS 410 martensitic stainless steel. All the knives in Spyderco's HAP40 Sprint Run series feature distinctive burnt-orange-colored FRN handles.
The burnt orange fiberglass reinforced nylon handle features Spyderco's patented Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity. The knife locks up solidly with a mid-positioned back-lock with a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed hourglass pocket clip.
