Hey I have heard from a few people now that this summer a Spyderco Dragonfly will come out with a wire clip, G-10 handle, and jimping. Has Spyderco said this? If so, can someone send me a link?

Let me be the first to say...Welcome to Bladeforums!

I can't help with your question, but you might get more help if you posted your question in the general knife discussion forum. Gadgets and Gear is more for all the things that aren't knives.

I havn't heard anything of the sort, but it sounds like a damn fine idea.

If they happen I will definetly get at least one of them. I have 5 now in various versions. Awesome little folders.

As much as I like the looks and upgrades to the G-10 D'fly, I wish a wire CPI or Caly Jr like clip would replace the molded one so you could still have an ultralight cutter like the current FRN version but with a better clip that can be removed. Adding in the jumping wouldn't be bad, either. The G-10 will be a great knife and a great seller no doubt, but an update to the lower cost FRN model would be real nice, too. It probably wouldn't be financially worth changing the mold now, unfortunately. I bet those wanting a dead on matching set of FFG lock backs is looking forward to this D'Fly as a good match to their G-10 Delicas and Enduras.

It may be disappointing, but it is necessary IMO. An exact release date puts too much pressure on Spyderco to get the product out.
I would rather they take their time and get it right the first time. Quality first.

That said, a general timeframe, to me anyway, would be useful in knowing whether to hold off the Dragonfly or buy a reasonable substitute, say a Byrd Robin or an equivalent. I agree we want them to get it right the first time. And demands for specific timeframes are counterproductive. That said, a general timeframe, say 1'st quarter 2010, etc. could help.

I'm fine with a general sense. And besides, the Dragonfly is worth waiting for. Shame they didn't do it right the first time. No matter.

The Dragonfly has been around for a number of years. Many still like the old designs.
This new Dragonfly will be an evolution of sorts, even if it only adds G10, jimping, and a wire clip.

the sloppiness about making models (liner locks, right hand only clips, think Rookie, they blew it) ambidextorous continues. This Dragonfly is an upgrade to right handers and a new knife to most left-handers.
