I saw the 2007 catalog, but when do they come out? Cant it be like cars that come out a half year early?

And whats up with being made in italy?

ETA is January/February i believe

as for the steel, i suspect these knives are made in the same factory as Extrema Ratio, in Italy. they use the same steel

What is wrong with Italy? Spyderco has a history of using skilled manufacturing all over the world. Fox of Italy is no beginner in making quality blades.

How much?

Looks like a million other knives I've seen at little custom knife shows and gun shows.

It seems like the world is saturated with this type of product.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Spyderco fan, but I can't get excited about this.

I bet Queen is making something similar out of D2 and cheaper.

Maybe it's just not what I'm used to from Spyderco and I need to have a more open mind; I don't know.

.

I wonder how much they will cost. Ive been looking for a nice midsized comfy fixed blade around $100, and im waiting to check out the spyderco ones.
If not then I might have to just pick me up one of those benchmade fixed griptillians. Im just too impatient is all, i cant ask for one for christmas if they dont come out till january hehe

According to the 2007 catalog, the MSRPs for the four Hossoms are $375, $340, $290, and $230. As a general rule, street price is around 60% of MSRP. If that holds true for the Hossoms, and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't, then they'll cost roughly $225, $205, $175, and $140. You might find sources selling one or more of them at a bit deeper discount, but I doubt you would be able to find even the smallest one at close to your $100 target price.

Have to agree with you. I hope for Sal's sake they sell like hotcakes, or at least well enough to show a profit, but I can't work up any personal enthusiasm for them.

The smallest one seems like a decent deal though.
4.75 inch blade, good sheath, $140

But what is N690Co steel?
Ive never heard of this before.
The benchmade fixed grip is 154cm which i know is good. The spyderco just has the nice curves, but i really do prefer made in america on my knives... Well germany and Japan I like to see too. Just nothing from china or france hehe.

i didn`t france was one to watch out for . i know pakistan is! i won`t bash china as i love my 5 byrd knives . taiwan is supposed to be crap , but i love my new gerber freeman skinner

yeah, it's not the country it's manufacture in that matters. what matters is the good and the poor companies located in the country where they manufacture

Are the stats available on the dimensions of the Woodlander's and Dayhiker's blades?

N690Co is a high grade cutlery steel made by Boheler in Austria (Boheler is a very reputable steel company, whose steels see quite a lot of use in gun making). It's widely use to manufacture cutting implements used in food processing plants due to its good edge retention + corrosion resistance. Is currently used in the high end production by Extrema Ratio, Fox and a couple of other italian knife companies. I wouldn't know how it performs / sharpens
by direct experience as I don't have a knife made of it but I would trust fox to make good solid knives.
Fausto

N690 is basicly a tougher VG-10 meaning it has a bit more vanadium in it. The lets give Cliffstamp a ring and see what he says.....fausto sums it up well

The 2007 catalogue doesn't list the thickness of the knives blades. :grumpy:

Thanks for the online catalogue, though!:D
