We just received a test shipment of kitchen knives. Not too many, just for a test.

I don't believe any of the dealers have them yet...so please don't expect them to be stocked at your local dealer. You could probably ask your local dealer to order them for you. All are MBS-26.

K01 - Bread knife - SpyderEdge - 10.5" blade length (This model is being re-introduced)

K02 - Cooks knife - PlainEdge - 9.5" blade length (This model is being re-introduced)

K03S - Carving knife - SpyderEdge - 8" blade length (this model is being re-introduced)

K04 - Utility - PlainEdge - 6.5" blade length (first time for plain edge)

K05 - Small Utility - Plain Edge - 4.5" blade length (This model is being re-introduced)

Just thought I'd let you know.

Superb, the only thing is Sal your kitchen knives are too sharp, when I am cutting peppers I use my small utility to cut them into quarters, another knife to remove the seeds (after a nasty little accident cutting towards me with your utility) and then cut them into strips with the Spydie again

Sal, do you have any pictures of these?

Don't forget to pay your taxes...they eventually become my knives:)

Spyderco is a indeed a consumer based company. You listen to us, then deliver.
I salute you, and will buy these kitchen knives when they become available. Will they be out in time for Christmas presents?
Thanks
Jim

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

Time for me to call sales again to ask about delivery and a price list.

Besides the Challif, which came from a different production line, the only thing from the old line that looks like it's still missing is the boning/filet knife.

It will be nice to have whole a kitchen knife line that I can recommend as being better cutting tools than the usual mystery steel - some of which is quite a bit more expensive.

There's another line of pretty good kitchen knives out there, the "Balance Plus" line from Gerber, which is ye olde 440A, made to be non-ugly and packaged in gift-wrappable packages, and priced fairly reasonably. Unfortunately, if you go to the Gerber Knives web page you will find no reference to them, and if you go to the Fiskars web page you will find that they are not to be found in the "Housewares" section there. After a few phone calls, I find that they've been taken away from the Portland-based knives division and moved to the "Housewares" division, and put under the control of people who have no interest in knives.

When we cook, we cut stuff with knives, not housewares! And we want our kitchen knives as vorpal as our pocket knives!

Jim-

You mean I`m not supposed to use my pocket knives in the kitchen...??!! I think my lightweight Jess Horn is the best paring knife I`ve used in a while. I`ve even hacked up a watermelon with my Buckmaster. (Any excuse to use a decent knife!)

Can`t wait for Spyderco Kitchen knives to hit the stores. I hope it`s in time for Christmas.

Sal, glad you went with the Spyder edge for the bread knife. It is much better than the old scalloped version (I've got both).

Sal, YOU ARE MY HERO! I've been regretting not getting a Spydie Chef's knife. Thanks for the second chance!

The choices we make dictates the life we lead.

Jeff - We're having a hard enough time selling the ones we currently make. Actually we can provide anything, but the cost of the same knife (MBS-26) with a "hand formed" wooden handle in ebony or rosewood would be about 5 times as much. Not enough ELU will pay the price to warrant a run.

Phantom4 - influence such as yours. Those ELU that had used both.

welp, that just figures....

I'm just going to have my paychecks direct deposited to First National Bank of Golden Colorado, and receive a mystery package of knives every month. That way, I won't be tempted to spend my funds on such frivolous things as a girlfriend, rent, heat, etc

so now i gotta get the new kitchen knives, a starmate, a spydiewrench, and try to track down a frickin matriarch.

My girlfriend is just HOPING that when I get a starmate, i won't want my AFCK anymore so she can have it

I have ten of each of the new ones on the way, maybe in a week or so. Presumably other dealers are getting in line too. I don't have a price list yet. Maybe in the next day or two. ;-)

I left my new price list at the office, but I recall that the 9.5" chef's knife is $49.95 MSRP, and the 10.5" bread knife is a couple or three dollars less.

James,

I'm at the Sturgis Rally but I'll try to find time to call you friday to confirm my order for a chef's knife. That and we need to talk about the EDI Talonite backorder given we've both talked to Will.

Best regards,

-=[Bob]=-

I just got the santuko today. I'm trying to keep from running through the fridge chopping, dicing, and mincing everything in there. Whoo Hoo for spydie kitchen knives.

I guess I'll still use my delica II for detail work.

Are these sold in sets, or just as singular pieces, also is there a matching block, or are you using the magnetic strip? People are willing to spend alot on one of the most used items in the kitchen when they know they will last a lifetime. I believe you will find a strong want for these knives as soon as you releace the kitchen commercial. I know my wife wants one after seeing it.
