Does it still retain the Hamaguri grind like the original one?

We can see it on this old pictures but not on the one in Amsterdam show...

If you look at the third picture you posted, it seems like it does. Not sure if that's lighting though, as it's not really visible in the other pics.

I guess it is because of the light, like you said it doesn't appear on the other pics, please Sal let us know?

Bob Lum sadly has passed away but there is still great love for his work and designs. I believe his widow has rights over all of his designs and continues to allow companies to produce them. I for one am thankful that they keep producing blades with Mr. Lum's designs.

Thought so. So its his families design? 5 years after death is he still being reanimated for designs? thats the part that confuses me

It's not an unheard of thing in the knife community. A lot of makers that have passed away, have manufacturers that roll out a run of a particular design. Look at the Centofante Knives.

I'll try to help.

- No. It's not his families design, it it his. They own the rights to his designs. I have no idea, but he also could have sold some.
- He is not being reanimated. You can't reanimate a person(I don't believe in zombies, lol)

Just because a knife maker dies doesn't mean their designs die with them.

Many leave their design(some may not even been made yet) rights to their family. Some have sold the right's to some, or all, of their designs.
Some don't care if others use their design.

For example, the Loveless design fixed blade will be around much longer than we will.
They are WAY to many makers to mention, but I'm also glad to see Rob Simonich's design's live on.

good point. I have always wanted his stuff but when i see new stuff roll out all i can think of is they are made by zombies to defend against zombies. odd thought processs but still

Hi CK,

The designs are brought out again, but with changes in materials to make them different from previous runs. In the Case of Bob Lum, Frank Cenbtofante and Eduard Bradichanski, royalties are paid to to their wifes.

I personally love kydex sheaths in combination with the Spyderco G-clip which I've claimed more than once ,deserves a knife industry wide award. I've purchased about 2 dozen G-clips from the Spyderco factory store and installed them on virtually every kydex sheathed knife I own, regardless of maker.
Having that said that, the leather sheath for the Lum does look very nice. I wonder if it has a clip of the back or is it ment to be carried more or less loose in a pocket?

It has been a long time since a knife has been calling my name but I think I might just have to get this one. :love_heart:

Sal, may I ask for an update on the Spyderco Lum Tanto FB sprint run?
