new Spyderco Tasman Salt Knife

I can't personally speak for the Tasman's blade shape, but I have a Salt I and the hype about the H1 is real. Mine has been in the ocean, lots of freshwater, pool water, IWB while running and cycling and has not had even the slightest hint of any rust in the ~8 months I've had. My GF has a Pacific Salt she tends to keep in the shower and that one has had zero problems as well.

Here is some interesting reading about rust and edge-holding in H1:

I don't have a Tasman Salt but I do have a Salt 1 and an Atlantic Salt.
I love the H-1 blade-steel!
It holds an edge for a respectable amout of useage (about like AUS-8 or 420HC, IMO), but it takes an extremely keen edge and it is rather easy to sharpen.

I believe that Dr. Hannibal did a nice review on Spyderco's own forum www.spydeco.com
You can do a search.

Good luck,
Allen.

=====================

Do I read correctly that your girlfriend keeps a knife in the shower?

I assume the GF has some possible issues or reason for a knife in the shower. But then again, it is a vulnerable time.

*cough*

I actually keep a Pacific Salt around the shower head on a snap-lanyard. right above my surefire 9P.

I have read a lot about that specific steel which is H1. I also saw a lot of comments and review saying a serrated edge will keeps its sharpness a lot longer that a plain edge. This would be due to the heat treatment that the SE edge receive...

Hope it helps...

Simon
