New spyderco.

It's made to work. And it's a production knife under $100, it's not going to be perfect.
The knives I have that are even close to being "Perfect" cost much more than the $80 - $90 Manix 2.

I'm glad you're liking it so far.
Keep it for a while, give it an awesome work out. It will serve you well.
I had one and it was my workhorse. It was great.

Glad you're giving it a chance. It deserves it. It's truly a great knife.

Well you could always do a fluff and buff on it when you have a few spare minutes on hand. And that blade finish looks far superior to the Taiwan produced Sage finish that I own. Yours looks nice and buffed as mine is well quite grainy in appearance but it doesn't affect function.

The Manix 2 is always a pleasant surprise when I put it to work. The grip and control that this knife has is absolutely amazing. You can really get some work done with this knife.

I polished the edges already using polishing compound and a dense wood, similar to how watch movements are polished..

I would think that the screws protruding a little is a good thing as long at it doesn't interfere. They're somewhat less likely to strip if they go all the way through.

Alright cut a few cardboard boxes.
Works like a champ.
Cuts much better than the Southard due to that smaller blade stock and low hollow grind. I suspect the low grind aids in overcoming the friction of when the material is "split" after being cut.

I think the design of Manix 2 is pretty much a home run, just needs to be finished a little better and it would be as good as the paramilitary 2.
I actually like mine better then my para 2(functionality and in hand fit top perfect finish to me), and I also think the fit and finish are great for a knife at the price it is, but then again I didn't stare at the sides of the pocket clip and actually put it to use everyday

This knife I believe is meant to be a worker the things you pointed I don't believe most would notice, but then again there are different ideas between what knife owners expect from a knife

Here's my point of view, and it's obvious by my actions that I still like the Manix 2.
Tactical, hard use, gentlemans, rescue, survival knife, worker knife, safe queens doesn't mean squat. It's all marketing and labeling. Labeling used to help narrow what the consumer should expect from the knife, and a way to get more $ for less knife (NOT pointing fingers at anyone, specially not Spyderco).

Just because a knife is tactical doesn't mean it has to be blacked out, or have a minimum of 99% surface gimping. Just because it's a rugged knife doesn't mean the manufacturer doesn't have to make it look pretty. Just because it's a gentleman's folder doesn't mean it has to be polished up with tiny pivots, etc.

When I see a knife with superior, average, or inferior Fit and finish, or construction, or materials for it's price range I am going to call it how it is. Whether it's a working knife, a gentleman's folder, or a tacticool knife. They all get compared. Except for sprint runs, or discontinued knives in which case I try to go by market value to compare.

I am going to say that the Manix 2 has superior construction, average fit and finish, and almost sub average materials. Overall I still think it's worth the money due to the caged ball bearing, ergonomic handle (been using it more and it's darn nice), and nice slab of S30v.

Can't argue with your opinion we still have that as Americans, what knives in the same price range have you seen better (honestly just curious)

Never said I found a better knife for the same price range. What I said is I've seen better fit and finish.
Here's some I can think of that I owned or handled:
Kershaw Skyline brown sprint run (I think I paid $70~)
Kershaw Blur S30v tec grip models ($75-$90 iirc)
Alias 2 (used to sell for a whole lot less than now, not sure why). Bought 2 of them, one for $95 like new that was nearly 2 years ago, and a 2nd one in blue titanium for $100~ new from a dealer sale (Which was ridiculous).
Lionsteel Opera I paid $80 shipped for this one.

Can't remember on the others to be honest.

Nevermind the Alias, seems to be a whole lot more expensive now.
