I have an order in for some new Carpenter CTS steels. Should be in in a few weeks. Heres the specs:
ry%3D480

CTS-B75 compares to BG-42, CTS-204P compares to 20-CV, and CTS-XHP is a stainless D-2.

These materials have been out for a while and several makers have been using them with great success. If anyone is looking to get their paws on some, I need to know! I will adjust my order accordingly.

Huh, I've seen some of those around (40CP from Hinderer), but it's great that you posted equivalencies.

If any of the metallurgists read this, I'd love to pick someone's brain about these alloys.

I notice that you say CTS-40CP is a powder 440C but only show specs for 20CP which does not look at all close to 440C (2.2 C, 9.3 V!).

I also have the CTS-40CP which has Carbon 0.95-1.20, Chrome 16-18, Mang 1, Moly 0.75, Sil 1, Van -, Other -. This is the powder 440C. I made a typo earlier.:(

We need someone to destruction test knives using these steels after performing regular cutting tests to see how they hold up to different things.

B75 , followed by 40CP seem to be the best for 'normal' knife use.20CP would be a bear to grind !

BG-42 is one of my favorite steels, so if this Carpenter steel is a good equivalent, I'd love to try it.

You're lengthening my list of stuff I'll need to have you do David!!! :D
