I am interested in getting some BG42 Sebs down the road, perfectly fine with S30V, most of my folders are S30V (Sebs, Striders, Ritter Grips, Spyderco Military etc). Not a big fan of ATS34, but I do like it.

Are these all of the steels that have been available on the Sebenza?

ATS34, BG42 and S30V?

What will be next? S90V? BTW, I am perfectly fine with S30V.
 
You are correct. ATS34, Bg-42, & S30V are the 3 steels used in the sebenza, not counting the different damascas steels offered. Though, the damascas is more for show than use I think. I personally like the BG-42 the best. I purchased mine a month ago, al large sebenza with BG-42, have cut everything from wood,cardboard, paper, meat on a cutting board, plastic, and it still shaves hair and is "scary sharp" My S30V cant come close to that. Sometimes you should not fix it if its isn't broken !!!

I belive Bigmark is the proud owner of the "mystery steel" Zaan, from Plaza Cutlery. I have been anxiously waiting to see what it is, and how long it will be until it reaches our grubby mitts! I have even held off on a couple of opportunities to grab some BG, as I hope the new steel blows it out of the water.
 
Tell me ! I'm a metallurgist and a Sebenza owner - I have a RIGHT to know !!
 
Geez, Ill buy one of those take-down tools for the Um from bhyde if bigmark was willing to take his apart to look for the "secret stamp!"

All this anxious waiting is making me crave a xanax or something!!!!
