hi i got 3 new strider knives ! smf , sng cc and pt ccx ! they all so stiff ........i been play with them all day long and my fingers getting hurt ! and when i watch youtube videos ppl can close the blade so fast and like butter !! why ? can some ppl tell me how long usually the frame lock will break in ! thank you very much !
btw this is my first time own striders .....love them ! thank you again !

My SnG is still stiff after two years. Striders aren't pocket jewelry, they are hard use tools, so hard use is what the ergonomics are geared to. Soldiers on patrol, in the field, and performing work use them. Youtube warriors aren't the selected market.

BTW, for the price of three Striders, you could have had a AR 15. In either case, owning something doesn't make someone something they aren't. Enjoy your knives, read a lot, post a little.

My SnG & PT took about 3 days to break in. Now their both as smooth as a Sebenza.

I broke all mine in while watching TV. Your hand will hurt. But well worth it!

Now mine are all smooth as glass.

Try this trick while opening and closing. ..take a #2 pencil and color in the area where the lockbar disengages. You will feel a difference with the lock not sticking right away.

I would bet that there are probably 10 times as many "youtube" warriors as Soldiers that own Striders.

The AR 15 comment comes way out of left field. Why would you assume that the original poster has any interest in that

As for the part I bolded, that's just rude and ignorant considering you probably know nothing about the thread starter.

sorry ........actually this is my first time on register on the site ! so sad i love guns too ......i am in canada and i don't have firearm licence !

I was never able to get a strider to "break in" or become smootherwithout loosening the pivot to the point that there was play. I've had two (smf, sng). From what I usually hear, that is not normal though.

Nice collection!!

It took you this long to finally sign up here? Either you dove into the pool headfirst, or you have been late to the forum scene....

My Strider is smooth, but it's firm, not for the weak. 5.56 (Rob) is used to smooth light Spydercos, he could barely open my Strider, but it's very smooth and good to me, don't need it to fly open, got a Manix 2 for that.

I just got a new strider as well.
It seems the little ball on the lock bar scrapes off a little of the blade coating, so I've been brushing that off with a toothbrush, and been keeping it oiled. It's not quite a week old, and it is smooth as glass right now.

Congrats on your new strider. Buy what you want and do what you like dude, there are lots of "haters" out on the internet, dont worry about them.
We live in a free country where we can buy what we want, do what makes you happy, and ON BLADEFORUMS I'm quite sure most of us fellow KNIFE LOVERS would appreciate 3 new strider knives, and not considder you
to be trying to be something you are not, or suggest that you were a youtube warrior or should have spent your money on a rifle. Which for all we know you could have had 3 of those rifles already.

Keep em oiled (a good quality gun or knife oil, not necessarily WD-30) and keep em sharp. Take care and welcome to Bladeforums.
