New strider dauntless

Pretty much all the "Dauntless" knives have that same handle.

Thanks. I was looking at the knife, and was thinking that I have seen design somewhere. The "dauntless" didn't register at all. For some reason Sibert came to mind first. Now I see what you mean. I have seen plenty before, from hinderer and others. Just learned something today :)

.
The SnG is "pretty ugly"...meaning that is ugly but still pretty, b/c it's a kick as* knife

The Dauntless is just ugly ugly :thumbdn: :thumbdn:

The Dauntless is a general design that belongs to TAD Gear. TAD Gear has many different custom makers make their own versions of it and they sell them at the TAD Gear store. Some makers who have created their versions of the Dauntless:

Warren Thomas
Rick Hinderer
Shane Sibert
Allen Elishewitz
Many more

And now Strider Knives just came out with their version. But rather than the usual custom route, it looks to me (haven't verified this) that they've taken the production route. TAD Gear normally doesn't do anywhere near 100 and it seems like they'll be coming out with more of these in time.

I personally like the Dauntless design and so do many others. I also like the idea of having many popular custom makers making their version of the same design. I think that's really cool. Most Dauntless designs are sold out in the first week, more often in the first day.

I haven't handled one yet, so I can't say if I really like it or not. I can't wait to get one in my hands.

just looked@ more pics on the tad site. not impressed with the construction, especially considering the $575 price tag.

it's not an ideal picture, but the frame lock looks to be almost as thin as a regular ole liner!

How scientific, I've never heard of this measurement of "regular ole liner". It looks to be just a thick as Strider's CC models. Which certainly isn't known for failure.

The price is high, but that is expected for a Strider. Their SMF CCs run $550. This knife is similar to that but half an inch larger and is going for $575. Yea overpriced, but hey at least they're being consistent.

I was just going to say, it doesn't look all that thin to me.

i really like the look of this one.

but from the specs it looks to be about the same size as an smf or ar, which i just find are too huge to carry.

as far as the lock, it looks pretty darn thick to me. no sure what exmachina is looking at, but it tapers toward the edge like the cc series. but the portion of the lock that touches the tang is thicker and doesn't appear to taper as much, if at all.

I got the regular SmF because, in addition to being cheaper:thumbup:, it has a nice thick frame-lock.
If I'm spending wads of cash I cannot afford, I want MORE titanium goodness, not less.:)

yup. i'll leave it to you guys w/ more strider experience to judge (a better pic might show the taper)

here's maybe a better pic showing frame width...maybe the lock bar looks small b/c the blade is 0.19"

I really wanted to be excited about this knife, but for some reason i just don't like the lines compared to some of the other dauntless designs.

Insane price.
marketed to people with more money then brains.

Not only is this a direct insult to people on this forum that like the design, but it makes you a hypocrite. I can guarantee that there are plenty of things that you buy that aren't necessary for survival. Anything above survival is a matter of luxury ultimately. For you to judge how others spend the money that they earned simply because you can't afford it yourself, all the while buying unnecessary goods and services without giving it a second thought is completely hypocritical.
