This is a great looking brute of a knife. The looks appeal to me way more than the Sebenza. I don't know if it is a better knife, but it is definitely way more my style. Anyone know if it is going to be available without the Tiger Striping?

From what Mick says there will be a few without tiger stripes. Can't wait until November.

I've got feeling Mick has a winner in this knife. I like the lines and also think that the price is within reason. I have only really liked the looks of a hand full of the Striders that I have seen. This one is easily my favorite so far.

A nice knife that should sell well for the Strider guys. But...I still don't think the Sebenza has anything to worry about.

Hey CRKT has a new model that looks just like this knife
except for the frame lock! If you go to CRKT's web site the model is the D.O.G. check it out! Very nice.

There won't be a "overtake."

CRK has their following. . .

Strider has their following. . .

And I know there are quite a few "flowovers." ;)

A "flowover" is one who partakes in both. :D

Isn't this like saying Oranges will overtake Apples?

It would seem that you have never held the two knives in question. They have the basics in common but, that is where it ends. Comparing the two to each other really isn't a thought that has previously come to mind. These two knives are just fundamentally different and unlikely to appeal the other makers market.

I really like Strider and CRK products but, I like them for totally different reasons and use them in totally different ways for totally different reasons. I am sure the new Strider folder will be very popular but, there is no way I would replace the Sebbie with one.

I had a vision!!!!!!

"When this Strider folder reaches production stage this place will be invaded by Sebenza vs, WhatsitStridername posts"

:D :D

Now, a tanto one! ;)

Yeah, they're very different. After seeing the AR/GBs, and playing with a Buck/Strider (all to big and bulky), I didn't think much about them coming out with another folder. Got to handle the SnG at Blade, though, and that thing is wonderful.
I want one, too:D

Sid, you are right for the most part, but it is my opinion that these two knives will indeed compete. They are in the same basic price range and are both made by companies that are regarded highly for the quality of their products. Some people who would have chosen the Sebenza because of it's reputation, even though they may not care for the appearance of the "Grey ****", may just go for this knife based on the fact that they like the way it looks.

Are they different? Certainly, but they are enough the same that they will compete. At least that is my take on the situation.

Wow. Forget the comparisions to a Sebenza. All I know is that I want one of these new Striders. And I want it now!!!!!

I think additional competition in the industrial-strength production folders category (or whatever it is called) will benefit those of us who collect these knives. I believe the Sebenza will maintain an edge in a few areas no matter how good the SnG turns out. The Sebenza will maintain it's place as an "office EDC" knife. From my perspective even without tiger stripes the SnG will (by design) look too militaristic for many office environments (I wouldn't bring one to my very laid-back workplace). I also think the Sebenza will keep an edge in the decorated knife category. I just can't see Strider comming out with decorated SnGs. Still, it will be interesting to see if people make the either-or choice between CRK or Strider or, like many of us knife appreciators, they just get both folders :D.

I was saving up to buy a Sebenza.
That Sebenza money now went to the SnG preorder.
