new strider, overtake sebenza?

O.K., listen, maybe a was a little harsh, or just too excited when I began this post.:footinmouth: I very seriously doubt that this new Sng will OVERTAKE the sebenza (in its own nitch). I currently own three sebenza's and two striders, so Yes I have handled both, and know their differences. Although as said before, I do think these two knives will have some sort of compition. So, please dont flame just because off the subject of the post, just be happy there is a new knife on the higher production knife market. :D

Well I love both my small and large Seneza's..but there will be one of these in my hands....it is just awesome !
Now I have never felt or handled it , but I dont care...where do I sign up to get on the waiting list ??
Just curious...what is the blade length ?

I've handled Strider SnG today at BAKCA show. It was first time I saw the beast live. Nothing to say, very nice piece, very tough. I'll be getting one for sure.
ALthough, I wouldn't really compare SnG to Sebenza. To me those are way too different.

I can't wait till the tanto version comes out. Last I heard it was going to come out a few months after the standard SnG comes out. I love my GB, and would love to get my hands on the smaller SnG tanto.

Call me a man with the patience of Job, but I'm waiting for the Busse Folder! Although, I've seen pictures of the SnG, and I gotta say that while I find the design to be awesome, I also don't really understand the idea of having one scale titanium, and one scale
G-10. I would think that the G-10 scale would lessen any strength advantage coming from the titanium scale. Just my own thought though.

Rev. Pete, I don't think of the Sebenza as an "Office EDC!" I think you meant that the Sebenza would offend fewer people in an office environment, and I agree. I carried a Sebenza for my last three years of military service. I had the choice of any knife and felt the Sebenza was the most appropriate.

I was just about to ask about this. Isn't it a bit strange to have one scale of G10? There doesn't appear to be any metal liner there, right?

Also, a more general question about Strider, as I've never handled one. How is the fit and finish? Are they smooth opening - comparable with a Sebenza?

I love the Sebenza, i saw the SnG at the BAKCA Show and i think it will sell very well indeed, but i don't see them as the same kind of knife at all and like it's been already been said both CRK & Strider have a cult like following as is and i don't see that changing any time soon.

No it doesn't have a liner on the G10 side, but i don't think it needs one, my guess on why the SnG has one side with G10 is weight and price considerations. I only saw one at the Show i couldn't get close enough to handle it, but by the pictures i have seen the fit and finish look very good.

Mick Strider said that one side is G10 because it feels strange when both sides are metal.

And I don't think that Strider knives are bound by price. They put the price around the knife, not the knife around the price.

The SnG won't overtake the Sebenza. There are too many people out there that think Strider Knives is a joke.

Right, the Sebenza is a fine all around knife that is equally suited to field or office use (probably overkill for skinning mail at office). I believe that the SnG, at least with tiger stripes, would be inappropriate in most office environments. Unless everyone in the office wears camo :D.

This is what Mick posted on the Strider forum as to why the G-10/titanium handle.

I don’t like the way an all metal knife feels.
Its cold in your hand, its cold on your skin if you wear it IWB.
Plus the G10 is VERY light and exceptionally strong.

Well at least i put the price behind the weight on the handle! But this thread is about the SnG being around the same price as the large Sebenza, thus the overtake, if it had all Ti handles and cost $550 we wouldn't be talking about it here.

I think Mick's right because he put IWB as far as the cold goes, if the SnG is in your pocket all day and night no worries about it being cold then, as long as your wearing your pants that is. hehe
