I just purchased a Strider fixed blade at the Dallas Market Hall Gun and Knife show. I have been wanting a good, tough concealable fixed blade that can also be used for utility purposes (hunting, fishing, etc.).

I'm pretty sure this is a Strider "MV", from what I've seen on various websites.

Could someone tell me a little more about this particular knife? It's intended usage, etc? It's not the usual 1/4" stock from Strider. I'd estimate it at 5/32 or 3/16 maybe. It's about a 4" blade with a wicked grind on the spine. It is tiger-striped and has G-10 scales. Came with a nice kydex sheath with a paddle type attachment, seemingly for hanging on an inside jacket pocket I guess?

This is a beautiful knife and seems to be perfect for my needs. Is this Striders version of a concealable self-defense type knife? Does anyone else have one of these? What have you used it for?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I would go to stiderknives.com and see what you have, with no pics I cant really tell you what you have.

It sounds like you did see the MV. That grind on top is called (sorry if I get the spelling wrong) a trisoula. The knife is indeed a great concealable back-up tool. The spine grind is used, among other things, for "scraping" along a bad guy's arm! I know little about them, but I'm sure there are all kinds of neat things you can do with that grind.

I bet that knife would make a fantastic utility piece as well, looking at the grind. There is a healthy amount of curve to the edge, but there is a pointy point inline with the handle.

I'd say go for it! Sounds perfect for your requirements. I think that knife is very interesting to look at too. There are lots of utility/defence pieces out there, but this one is an interesting one to look at for sure!

Good luck.
