Anyone else get their notice to send in the money for the new SMF? Hopefully be able to post a pic in a couple of weeks!

Bruz:

Check goes out tomorrow to them.

Welcome to the club. Mine will be stuck in a drawer NIB, unopened when it arrives.

I have a second one on order that will be a user.

What's the deal with the servicemen receiving the matching serial numbered knife? Will we be put in touch with with our knife-wielding counterparts?

Congrats all!

My son is getting mine...he just signed up for the Navy, going to be a SEAL! Love the idea of "buying" one for someone I do not know in the military as well, I too hope I will be able to keep in touch with whomever gets it...

You are getting two Brownie?! You are spoiled rotten! You sure have a lucky nephew, remember me if you ever want to adopt. :D

I'm trying to find a Strider SnG all black Spearpoint at the moment. The SMF is a little too big for my liking. Hopefully someone at the Gun&Knife show will have something here.

Speaking of SEALs, I'm reading Warrior Elite by Dick Couch. I would highly recommend it. He is a former SEAL and takes you through the SEAL training in great detail. I checked on www.amazon.com for the book before I bought it and it received very high ratings.

Congrats to everyone getting their new knives!

Bruz:

You remembered the nephew gets everything hey?

No kids, so he's the recipient of all the toys, he has nothing but sisters and they are not going to be enamored with the toys I'm leaving behind.

Spoiled? Sorta I guess. I've dropped a few thousand on knives this month alone. Have to get em when they are available I guess.

Your son is one lucky young man, hope he knows that. Wait till he's permanent duty after BUDS or he may have it taken by the instructors.

Stay safe.

Thanks alot for the tip Torment...been trying to catch everything on TV about the training so he will be prepared. I stopped heating our pool and have been getting him to jump in for 15 minutes a day to help prepare him! He's been training for a week and has really buffed up quick, oh to be 19 again! The only thing I can get to get bigger in a week is my gut.

Thanks for the advise Brownie, did not think of that...I'll be asking for more advise as time goes by. Was also considering giving him my Bagwell (Hells Belle) Bowie but am really going to wait for awhile before I do that. Want to make sure he is as armed as possible.

Wow, no one else made the list for the SMF?

Got my SMF yesterday, what a beast! Anyone else get theirs? For those who have not seen this knife it is too cool. I like the size of the SNG and Large Sebenza, I was afraid the SMF was going to be too big, a behemoth like the Buck Strider, I was happily surprised.

Though it is huge it is not bulky. It fills the whole hand but more like a glove than a brick. Feels great in all self defense positions with generous reliefs for the fore and middle fingers. When POP'd open there is a resounding crack, while still tight the lock can be taken off with one hand (had to open the SNG a few hundred times to say this!).

Fit and finish is near flawless, the clip appears to be tempered such that it does not take a body builder to clip it on. Came with a very nice padded pouch and marked with MCSOCOM DET 1, Serial #, and limited run #. The thumb hole is huge; one can slide a pencil through it or open if hand is covered with blood, sweat, or tears. The blade is beefy and SHARP! For such a thick blade I do not know how they can make it such a great cutter...just when I think I have mastered sharpening blades I get this scalpel that puts my efforts to shame.

Hi Bruz,

Got mine today. #71

Mine also popped easily, the clip is not the bear the SnG is, and your thoughts on unlocking it mirror my own findings as well.

Congrats to all who got in on this.

Shane, do let us know when you get yours and your thoughts as well.

#49 here. This thing is a brute. About the same length as my previous EDCs, Spyderco Civilian and BM AFCK, but definetly more hand filling. Mine locks up a little over half the thickness of the lock, very tight. I need to make myself a spanner to tighten up the pivot a little, the blade has a bit of play. I bent my clip to tighten it up, I'd rather rip my pocket off than lose this sucker. This is the roughest pattern of G-10 I've ever had, very grippy.

Overall I'd say THIS THING KICKS ASS.:D

I got mine today and I'm LOVE'N IT! Bruz, it's that sharp because Mick is a true master at his craft!

Congrats Brownie, Darren, and NRG! Tightening up a Striders clip!? Bet that will surprise some people! I concur with Brownie though, much easier to deal with, I don't think it's going anywhere.

Did not think of it Darren but you are right, mine did not come with a tool either.

NRG, what number did you get!?

Can somebody help me out here?
I checked with Strider web site when I first heard of the SmF and was directed to TAD to place my order. Last I heard, nothing would be available till late spring 2004.
Did I take the wrong path to purchase? Have I missed the boat?
