So I just got a new Strider SMF CC from a reputable website and it came with no paperwork, box, other from Strider. Just the knife in a bubble wrapped bag in the shipping box. Is this how they are normally delivered or did I miss getting something I should have? I'm surprised that a relatively high end knife doesn't at least have a box. Would love thoughts.

Thanks!

I seem to remember this same thing happening with a ZT 0551 not long ago. i don't know the thread off the top of my head, but it was the same basic thing.

Well there you have it. Not that I need (or really want) a knife box, just seemed weird to me. Going to be a user and not one I try to resell but I had visions of the future question... "do you have the original Strider box?" With my pending answer of "...er, nope."

Thanks!

Anyone who knows won't be asking for a box. :D

What you have there is a 100% work knife, not a museum collectible. To break it in, scratch it with your fingernail.
I don't consider a Strider to be high end. To me high end is a William Henry, Chris Reeve, too many customs to mention, etc. A Strider is just a workhorse; no more, no less. Also, I think it called an SMF.

To me, if it costs more than 90% of the knives out there, it's high end.
You can find more expensive/exclusive knives for sure, but when people faint at the mention of how much your pocket knife cost, it's rather high end.;)

Yep, typo on the model. Too much time trying to decide between the SNG and the SMF :-)

I agree with stabman - high end to me is defined by price. Price is defined by what people are willing to pay. This is my first Strider and so far seems like a pretty cool knife. I certainly intend to use it as a workhorse but at its price it falls in my "high end" category. As do my Busse's which I beat the crap out of but still consider high end due to their cost. Of course this is completely opinion and not likely an argument any side could win.

Truth is I prefer knives to come without a box, I don't like storing them, and If I want to resell it, I have to keep it because it loses value without the box.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if more manufacturers did away with boxes myself.

Its quite a thick baggie though, you may have noticed. Heavy duty... like the knife. :D

It would be nice if they could throw in a sticker at least. Or perhaps a lock of Mick's hair.

A zippered Strider case would be nice ;). I miss my SMF, SNG and PT's, but they were a little thick. As soon as I got rid of them, I found out about the CC versions.
