New Strider SNF

Not great photos of a great knife

I guess in my mind high dollar and high end are not the same thing necessarily. There are some expensive turds out there in the world. For me, a high end knife needs to be commeasurate with the fit and finish as well as the price, which is why I mention CR & WH knives. Not saying Strider is a turd so let's not go in that direction. :D

For the most part I agree with you. Certainly some high priced turds out there but being a believer in (relatively) efficient markets I tend to believe products with bad price/value ratios cannot last long.

I haven't had the chance to put the Strider through much testing yet so haven't formed a strong opinion on the knife. That said, it does deliver to what I was looking for - a solid looking/feeling yet compact enough knife for an EDC. I'll write more after I've had a chance to actually put some use on it. I agree that the Strider fit and finish is not nearly in the same league as my WH which I find to be both a beautiful and functional knife. I am a little surprised at the lack of respect they tend to get here on bladeforums. The only reason I can think of is this community tends to place more value on knives that can chop tanks in half vs. those with slimmer blade profiles.

I agree with you Fred. I think you will really like th SMF once you find a chance to really put that knife to use. I have the smaller SnG, and it is a really nice knife and is solidly made. I am after one of the 3V or S110V bladed SMF varieties.

Awesome looking knife.
I unfortunately haven't had a chance to handle a Strider yet.
Developed a crazy itch for it for the past few weeks, but started to cool off to save the cash.

I'll say what I've said before. Strider makes a great knife with outstanding ergos, but they are "fully priced." OTOH, the clean-up S110V SnG and SMF knives went out the door this spring at the same price as the S30V and had custom-level F&F - those knives were somewhere between a huge bargain and an outright giveaway.

I don't consider a Strider to be high end. To me high end is a William Henry, Chris Reeve, too many customs to mention, etc. A Strider is just a workhorse; no more, no less.
Of course it's high-end. It's a ti framelock with a G-10 scale and a Hinderer lockbar stabilizer, and it was fairly groundbreaking when it first appeared. An yes, price has something to do with it as well, although that logically follows from the mentioned design features.

Where do you get the S110v striders?
There were a few small batches of production S110V SnGs and SMFs that hit the major Strider dealers' shelves a few months ago; in the case of the SMFs, they were a dealer exclusive. Other than that, you'll have to keep an eye out for a Mick Strider or Duane Dwyer custom that uses it.

Different strokes, as I said. Never said that my opinion was fact, just opinion like everyone elses. I guess it can be a high end work knife, of course.

Works for me! That's certainly how I'd categorize mine. ;)

High end...high quality...hard use? Too many adjectives these days. It's just a knife, and a very good one. :) SnG x2, SMF, PT here, and fully satisfied.

Yeah they should give you a zippered Strider case for their prices! No box but the zippered case idea I like! Currently own two Striders and am thinking of getting another! I would really like an SNG GG! My only concern is that they dont use liners in their handles? You have the Ti side with the locking mechanism but the other side is just the G10 slab? No metal liner? For such a "heavy duty" folder should that be a concern? Or is the G10 strong enough on its own???

What you have there is a 100% work knife, not a museum collectible. To break it in, scratch it with your fingernail.

Pretty expensive workhorse.

Actually, some dealers do. ;)

The G-10 is thick/strong enough that it shouldn't be an issue. :)
