Take a look here www.forthehunt.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=2317063 and tell me if you think this is a new style of Bear's coming out. Notice four things here.
1) the choil (how do you pronounce that anyway) near the end of the blade.
2) the tip has a much less prominent drop than the Bear's I'm used to seeing.
3) tang pin is smaller and the handles are a lot closer than the Bear's I remember (will this solve the previous design flaws?)
4) I don't believe that handle color was previously available.

Most importantly, it doesn't look to me like they've solved the fundamental problem that Bear has long had. The Zamak gets to think in the skeleton hole nearest the pivot pins and it cracks and breaks.

Someone found my secret auction hunting spot...

Before the flames begin, I have never owned a Bear, and was only buying it so MER could re-handle it for me.

I guess we'll see....

What is the lesson learned today?
Bear MGC balisongs are horrible until they fix the handle material.:)

Nothing new, have had one for years. and what everyone says, the handles are pretty cheap. I got it because I like damascus, they also have a bowie.

So, if I, say, bought a bear, and had it re-handled, by, say, mer...
It would be good then?

Handle issues aside, how does the damascus hold up?

I have heard that the damascus is a pile of lined shyte. I guess the normal blades are pretty good.
