Picked up the made in China Remington Sportsman Insignia Series canoe for $7.47 at a local hardware store. I looked through 10-15 knives to find one that was not too gappy or had blade rub on the liners or each other. I finally found one. I probably shouldn't I've bought it, but oh well.

It was shaving sharp out of the package. Blade steel is 440A and it is 3 5/8" closed.

You aren't kidding! I'd find one with the blades off the liners but they'd be rubbing on each other. Then one exactly opposite. Then one with the blades good but a bunch of gaps........and on and on. This one is about right for an $8 production knife. :)
