New Super Blue Caly 3

I got a present today!



Fit and finish are excellent. Pretty sharp for a factory edge. It feels really nice in the hand.
 
I'm not letting mine get a patina. I always pay extra close attention to it. Sometimes I carry it when I suit up, but that's about it
 
No patina for now. First thing I did was treat it with Tuf glide. I've got some Eezox coming which is even better.

Having said that, I won't be scared to use it. If it stains it stains. Life will go on.
 
I wouldn't underestimate super blue's resistance to stain proofing. Based on the super blue knives I already own, this sprint will patina immediately if you use it. That's why I like it!
 
I ordered one today at knife center. It said it was in stock, so hopefully it'll ship. I'll post a confirmation.
 
Spyderco is supposed to be coming out with a few new models in Super Blue (Delica, Dragonfly, etc.) They are all going to be laminated with a stainless steel though, I believe. I wish it would be solid Super Blue because I think the patina is cool.
 
Yes, Endura, Stretch, Delica, and I've heard Dragonfly. According to knife center the Enduras are expected in May, so real delivery date should be hopefully by Independence Day. I would rather them be right than on time. I sold my Caly 3.5 bc I didn't like how the lockup was sloppy. I'm just getting into a carbon steel phase so I'm excited!

I really wish they weren't going to be laminated with stainless...

Wouldn't a Dragonfly with a dark patina on it be super cool?
 
FYI, my caly 3 from knife center did ship, and as of writing, are still showing in stock for $139.95.
 
the light scales make the dark patina look even better.

There's just something right about patina on a spyderco, IMO. It just fits.
 
Count me as another that would like to see more Super Blue without the stainless lamination.
