New Survival Knife

For choppers I really like my Scrapyard 711. Lighter than most knives of the size and res-c is awesome. IME though with most of the companies mentioned is that you need to have the edges thinned to make the knife really perform. I had Gossman do my 711 and it's a different knife now.

All said and done, a Silky saw is probably what you need. Not as sexy though. ;)

Condor Boomslang. And you have money to spend after.

I Nearly forgot about the Condor line, I had my eye on the Boomslang a while back. However, I have always found that their is a quality control issue. I bought a Condor Golok some time ago, the tip was flat as if it was dropped on the tip, and the blade had a noticeable sway to the left. But I know that the Boomslang is a higher dollar model, so I would think they would have better inspection.

British MOD survival knife, great blade that will last forever. Built to military specifications and 1/4" thick carbon steel brute blade! unlike the tat for sale as 'survival' knives out there, this thing is a real survival tool. I gave my a proper sharpen and it's pretty much scandi ground and unbreakable, makes a good chopper, shovel, prybar, hammer, door brecher, dragon salyer etc. ;)

go with the Becker 16 and save some dough, get some more equipment. There was for sale in the exchange under production fixed blades, going for 75.00 (?) I believe.

Another vote for the ESEE Junglas. Their warranty is practically unbeaten in production knives (forever, no matter the owner, no proof of purchase, no questions asked). I have an Izula and ESEE 5 and they are wonderful. The Junglas is next on my list. The sheath is for sure worth it. ESEE does wonderful sheathes. I believe the Junglas has adjustable tension just like the 5. Great feature.

Where did you purchase it from and what do you mean by proper sharpening?

You should be able to find one int he states, it will probably cost around $70 but that's due to the exchange rate. http://www.heinnie.com/Knives/John-Nowill-Knives/Survival-Knife-Black/p-92-153-1160/ email them and ask if they can post it across the pond!

basically when they arrive, the edge is thick and very crude. They need 10 minutes on a rough oil stone or a very small file, then just sharpen as normal and it will shave your arm all day long. They make great working/survival knives and were designed to be used by arctic and jungle survival squads of the minsitry of defense. SO the handle is long and sturdy and the blade can be used to cut open oil drums, ammo tins, crates, doors and dig holes etc.

I removed the coating from mine as I prefer the bare steel and they come with a leather left handed sheath.
