New Swiss Army Knife - Wenger or Victorinox?

I have a number of both and just like everyone said victorinox has alittle bit better quality, but it just seems to me like the wengers are much more innovative. My guess is victorinox wanted to keep their brand to the traditional style, but had more ideas that they decided to use with a different closely related company?

I first started collecting Wengers and preferred them until I got my hands on a few Vics. Since then I've preferred the Vics, although I still prefer Wenger's serrated scissors and spring lever construction over Vic's removable spring scissors.
At one point I was on a real buying spree of Vics but have since cooled down a bit.

Nice collection "NaturalMystic"!!!!:D:thumbup:
Do you know of anyone here in the forums that will customize SAK's? I would love to have some Carbon Fiber or G-10 scales fit to a couple of mine. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them. And I like the VIC's though I have a couple Wengers I like as well. You can't go wrong either way and the cost is such you could buy both and the problem would be solved.;)

Thanks Kevin!
I don't know of anyone on bladeforums in particular but over on the SOSAK subforum of Knife Forums I've dealt with SAK modder "scibeer". He built this custom Farmer for me. He and FelineVet had a special run of HA III Farmer scales made and I had scissors and pocket clip added to my regular Farmer.
Great guys to deal with.

My pleasure sir. It's the least I can do after all the awesome daily pocket dump pics you post to make my mouth water! LOL

Here are a few samples of scibeer's mods. None are my pics though.

I'm not sure who did the Carbon Fiber looking one but FelineVet either owns it or was selling it at his store. Should give you an idea of how the CF should look!

Oh, Spork60 over there also does SAK mods.
Here are some more pics from scibeer. He really does awesome work. Hopefully these pics will bring him some more business from you and others here!

Some of the raw materials he uses for his scales:

If it were possible to have the Swiss shield on these scales they would be absolutely awesome!

I think it is possible. Look at the very first pic I posted. Those wooden scales have the shield inlayed though I can't remember how he said he did it.

I have both Victorinox & Wegner. BOTH are High Quality SAK's and you really cant go wrong with either. But I usually prefer the Victorinox as I just always felt they were a higher quality & more sound SAK than the Wegner. There are tools on the Wegner though that I find are better than the Victorinox though such as the small wrench and I like the spring on the Wegner Scissors over the one on the Victorinox. Pretty much comes down to personal preferences. Like I said, BOTH are great.....YOU decide which is Best For You !!! Enjoy !

do you have the marbro vic knife?? the one that has a key chain on it with a light??

Hey Richard, not sure who this was meant for but if it was for me you'll see in the first pic I posted of my collection I have the 58mm red translucent Midnite MiniChamp which has a red led. It's activated when you press the Vic shield. I should also mention that it's not very bright but ok for close range map reading etc. On the other side it has the retractable pen.

Very nice collection NaturalMystic  Also thanks for the info on Scibeer's mods, Ive never seen that on an sak. Defiantly going to check into them.

To answer the question "Vic's or Wenger's", I personally favor the Vic's.

Hey bud, thanks! I just sent you an email with more details on contacting those guys at the SOSAK sub forum. Let me know how it works out. I saw that Spork60 is online over there now but didn't see scibeer.

Basically, for the rest of you who might be interested in getting good SAK mods done, or learning more about SAK mods in general head over to the SOSAK sub-forum and ask for permission to join to get access to the actual "sub-forum" and it's threads...

If you go to Knife Forums go to the "THE SECRET ORDER OF THE SAK" SubForums and post a thread to request to join that sub-forum.

I haven't been very active in that sub-forum lately but that is just a "front door" where you ask for permission to actually join the SOSAK (Secret Order of the SAK) sub-sub-forum. Once you've been allowed admittance then you 'll see the actual sub-forum link and threads and you can post a thread addressed to either of them asking for info on their mods.

I don't know if they have actual order pages where people can place orders. You can mention that I referenced them and their work and that you're interested in getting some mods done and see what they say and then go from there.

My user name on both forums is NaturalMystic.
