watcha think? i still need to get another thin piece of plexy about 1/8" or 3/16" and drill it and place it underneath cause its just a little too low.

Looks cool, although I would think that the sparks and heat generated by the grinding process will tend to destroy the plexy in short order ??

later on i plan to replace it with a thick piece of steel that is heat treated. the aluminum one that came with it tends to scratch easily and holds metal grindings in the grooves and even cleaning it off after each pass it still leaves scratches. started pissing me off.

Man I can't even touch my steel plate when I'm hogging steel. Gets that hot
That table will probable melt.
Angle iron works good try it!!

Jacob, I appreciate your trying, but a Plexiglas work table won't work.
Probably won't work for even one knife.
The use of it as a platen liner would end in disaster.
Under the belt, use steel ,or order a pyro-ceramic platen liner from Darren Ellis. For the work table ,like you just replaced, a piece of mild steel or angle iron is all you want. I would put the old one back on for the time being. The Plexiglas's one could result in injury.

If you didn't like the scratches on the aluminum one wait till you get hot plastic melted to your blade!!!

Why not just mount a steel plate to the aluminum one that came with it??

I think I smell burning plastic. :barf:

Why heat treated. IMO angle iron would do well, and is recomended here. I think thats mild steel isn't it???

its a good thing i havent used it yet. another reason why i took off the other table is that in order to get it to stay in place, i had to really crank down on the bolt with the allen wrench. i even tried scuffing up the surfaces so they werent so slick in hopes it would hold better but with no luck. ill change it out before i do any work on a blade or anything.
