Well, finally had a chance to build a proto for my new tactical, as some of you may know, I retired the old pattern a couple months ago. The new knife is much better I think, better blade/handle ratio, thicker liners ( .065 ), more comfortable and useful in the hand. It also has some features that Ive not used before, Ambi thumbstuds, as well as a third standoff. Note also that the standoffs are machined with a hour glass shape. ATS34 steel, 5/32" thick, bead blasted. Blade is 3 7/8 long, overall length is 8 3/4". Dovetailed and beadblasted SS bolsters. The knife is supposed to have a regular Bowie type blade, the recurve was one of those happy accidents, so I think I will offer it as an option. Natural canvas micarta. I think that covers it, though it feels like I'm forgeting something. The blade is not sharpened or marked yet. Let me know what ya think -- Charles

I think the recurve blade adds a lot to the look,,not so conventional. Very, very nice work.

Phillip :)

Do SS bolsters make the knife heavy. Do u ever use titanium? The blade really looks great. I like the recurve and the natural canvas micarta. Great work. Thanks for posting Charles. ec

Very, very nice. I had been wanting to order one of your older style knives for awhile. I think this one looks better.

Keep in mind that the "old style" was a heck of a good looking knife! The new one is even better looking! I like the recurve bowie look but I have always loved the clasic lines on the bowie. Everything else about it is super. The natural canvas micarta is especially slick, and I don't mean the feel of it. Would a solid titanium or steel backspacer be a problem, say about 3/4's length?

I know I placed an order several months ago and then had to cancel it and never got back to you, but this is a knife that "speaks" to me! And not many knives speak to me! Great job Charles.:D  :)

Great job Charles.I really like the style,it looks like it would fit my hand great. The blade grind is very cool too.Do you use other blade steels?

Thanks guys.

Ed - I dont use Ti for bolsters, I may in the future.

Stumpy - I have plans to make all models available with S30V, got a big bar of it last week, now I just need to cut it into blades ;).

PS, sorry Art, didnt mean to leave anyone out. I should be able to make a spacer bar out of steel or aluminum w/o too much difficulty.

Damn it's nice to see tacticals breaking away from the monotonous black of the past. This knife certainly is a looker. the natural Micarta looks great.

Charles, that knife looks great. I agree with Keith, the natural micarta looks like a nice touch.

Another "HEALTHY" looking knife in the Marlowe tradition!! Nice design Charles!!

I have a Hunter model and think it's a great knife. My only wish is that it was a little larger. I hope this one will be and I'll have to order that other one I was waiting to.

BTW...the edge on the ats34 model I have is damn scary sharp...I like that steel so please keep on making it.

I love my old tactical, it's my edc. Charles that knife is just as good looking as your balisongs.:D

Wikked! I can only imagine how sweetly that recurved blade would cut. This piece will be a very strong contender for my first custom folder once I claw my way up out of the financial pit that I have stupidly dug myself into... The natural micarta looks really nice too.

Hey, what exactly is "natural" micarta? Is it like Loveless' green micarta (only not green...)?

Also, do you plan to have it tapped for tip-up carry?

JD

Best I know, natural micarta is made with undied canvas. Very similar in composition to the green, but w/o any dye. I can put the clip on for tip up ( in fact this is how I used to do it ), but I prefer it tip down for saftey, just need to specify what you would like. - charles

Cool Charles! I'll get that deposit for the Gent's/Tac in the mail with in 2 weeks.

That recurve is very nice and should cut like a champ!:)

Wow!

Wow!

Wow!!

Man, that is one GORGEOUS knife, and the natural canvas micarta really "makes" it.
