I just received a TAD Dauntless MK4 and returned it the next day because it was so difficult to open. Basically impossible. Ordered another, and it is not as bad but it still is a pain. Half the time it just doesn't fire. The CS rep at TAD said this is normal, that they tend to have a strong detent and it should get a little easier with time. He also said to watch out for applying lock bar pressure. I think I will return this one too. I like the knife a lot, but I went through this before with an early ZT 0450, and I know I don't like a knife that is tempermental when opening. I just won't carry it.
Is anyone else having this issue? I am thinking maybe they got a bad batch, and perhaps I should wait a few months and order again?
Also, The stone wash seems more aggressive than the knives I have seen on videos and pictures. I know this can be variable from batch to batch. Not a big fan of the new, rougher look.
