New to Bark River

I'm surprised no one has posted up the generic Bark River warning that goes out to all newcomers.

DO NOT purchase a Bark River knife unless you are prepared to purchase several.

I bought one, and probably have close to 40 now.

Consider yourself cautioned. :D:thumbup:

Best advise ever!

How do you think the Liten Bror in 3V compares to the gunny in A2? They are close in price and size.

the liten bror is thinner and more in the bushcraft mindset of "less is more"
the gunny is simalar but a little more robust and sort of more oriented towards harder tasks.

as for cpm3v vs A2?
IMHO cpm3v outpreforms a2 in every aspect, a2 is a little easier to sharpen.

overall they are both great knives but I like the liten bror more.

CPM-3V is superb but Bark River's A2 is no slouch...

Bark River are great knives. They may seem pricey, but are worth it in my opinion. This is my backpacking/bushwalking companion:

It's a Bark River SS Bravo 1 with a Hard Rock Maple handle. I prefer stainless steel in an outdoor knife I carry either on my belt or in my pack. The knife came super sharp, well made and ready for service. It has the heft for bushcrafting/small wood chopping with a compact size perfect for basic skinning/cutting/food preparation chores.

I also have a 7.5" Barkie bowie currently being shipped to me as well:

This one has a Sambar Stag handle and is made from carbon steel. This will replace my old, well loved CS Recon Scout that went walkies a few years ago from my luggage while traveling overseas. I had bought an ENTREK ELK for that role, but I decided to use that in my Bushfire evacuation kit instead when I saw this knife.

One last thing, people here are correct when they say that Bark River knives are extremely addictive. Be forewarned and make sure you have an understanding spouse before you buy one.

I've noticed Mike Stewart's avatar over on knifeforums has three knives in it: a Golok, a Canadian Special, and a little one I can't make out. Any Bark River fans know what the third knife is ?

It's a Pro Scalpel.
