Well im a new poster here, but im in no way new to knives. Im what you call one of the "spyderco fanboys." I currently carry a spyderco police model with me every day and im looking for something new. I dont need a knife thats going to go to hell and back, i just want something durable that i know i can trust. Ive been looking into benchmades for a while now and i just cant choose. Im looking for something thats going to be razor sharp, and a steel that i can easily bring back if it were to dull out over time. Money is not really an option for me, but i would like to keep it between the $60-$120 doller range if possible. Think anyone could help me out?

Thanks in advance

I like the mini Griptillian alot (yellow). It goes well in hand and cuts super good. The knife is also uncomplicated, I like that, not to many grooves or lines and is not trying to impress me with looks, plane but cool. The lock is superb, I love the simplicity.

If money is no object---I suggest getting one a notch or so over the Grips(while good)----the others are just soooo much sweeter.

Myself---I've been into the Presidio series lately---have a 5000---a 525 and a 520 on order---the 5000 and 520 are huge------you might want to look into the 525's---they are sweet little knives.

Yes ---there is a very confusing array of options in the Benchmade lines-----my last purchase was made after an intense internet study over the weekend----had the 520 in mind originally-----and wound up going with that after a lot of study.

Kept on thinking I wanted an any state legal 3incher----but wound up with a my state legal 3.5incher.

Oh ya---you REALLY need to have a knife with an AXIS lock.

I really like the dejavoo, It looks like a custom knife too (bob lum all rounder)

i know its not a terribaly expensive knife, but the vex holds a good edge, sharpens quickly, and is not flashy at all.
another plus for a 'spydie fanboy' is the opening hole.

If you want to get a higher end BM and like the opening hole, look around for an AFCK. One of my favorites.

What noone has mentioned the benchmade 710

for something a little nicer look up the benchmade 940 and 960

I also vote for the 740 dejavoo but if you are new to benchmade then i rocomment getting something with and axis lock because thats benchmades trademark

This might not be as easy to sharpen, but I would recommend that you look into the Benchmade 710 in D2 steel. It's definitely one of the more popular folders out there, and it has a great track record.

If the D2 steel really turns you off, I'm going to recommend the Griptilian or mini Griptilian also.

The 710 sharpens great with a kyocera cermic crock stick. It gets a great shaving edge after only a few passes, the factory grind imho is a good one for the blade size.

Hey Robot...welcome to the Forum :D

I kindly like the mini-Skirmish myself. Slim, medium-large blade, 1/8" of sweet S30V steel, frame lock, tip-down carry (personal preference), and an overall sexy looking knife. It isn;t an Axis, but if it were perfect I probably wouldn't like it.

You can;t go wrong with any of the aforementioned either: Griptilian, 710, Dejavoo, any of the H&K line, and on and on.

Thanks for the quick reposnses guys. At the moment i like the 710, but the D2 steel isnt very appealing to me. Im highly leaning twoards the 940 right now.

Why would you want a Benchmade? Just get you a Spyderco ZDP Caly 3. Its about the best production blade in the market right now.

But.........................if you must go Benchmade, the Mini Skirmish is right up there in production blade greatness. The fit and finish is damn near perfect on mine.

I like the Osborne 940 axis-lock. I like the "reverse-tanto" blade style. Just look and see how many years they've been making this knife!

I already own a caly 3;)

So far ive found the Ritter RSK Mk1 for $115 and i would have to say that im pretty much sold. S30V seems to be a pretty superior blade and its still in my price range. Thanks for the help guys

If you don't buy a BM 710 as your first Benchmade, you will eventually. This is one of the top 5 production knives one can buy, in IMHO. It was the first quality knife I bought, about 150 knives ago. If I could only keep one knife, the 710 would be on my short list.

My second choice is the Ritter Grip so go for it if that's your pick. But if you ever handle a 710 you won't want to put it down.

Regards
