My name is Dave and I go by Trapper Dave. As mentioned I am new to Blade Forums and am learning my way around. There sure seems to be alot of information available here.
I am a knife collector by default I guess you could say. I lost my Dad this past December 23 and he left me a rather large collection of very custom knives as well as manufactured knives he collected over the years. I was able to meet with a fellow named Claude Montjoy whom my Dad was a frequent customer of. I have approximatley 28 of Claudes handmade beauties. A few months ago I went to Clinton SC and met Claude and took the knives that Dad had purchased from him in the early 90's. Each one had a story behind it. Claude is a first class knife maker and a heck of a nice guy. It was both tuff and kind of neat to here Claude talk about my Dad. They were friends and that ment alot to me.
Dad also favored a maker by the name of George Schwartz. George loved knife making and you could tell he put his heart into it. He is also gone now, but his work is some of the best I have ever seen. I have quite a number of his knives as well.
I also have a fairly large collection of Remington bullet knives. My Dad really liked those.
So I decided to join this forum seeking knowledge maybe forging a few friendships and learning as much as I can about each of the knives I have.
