New to Buck Knives. Edit: Picked Up My 1st Buck Fixed Blade

I think you will really like the 119. That knife should make you want to get all the 100 series fixed blades. You can't go wrong with them.

Let it all hang out. Look for an older 120 in 440C.

:D If I did that I would end up with a complete set of the classic black and the cocobolo ...not to mention the pre 84 set :D

That actually sounds really good now that I think of it.

Thanks again everyone. I'm sure I'll end up with a few before the year is out and a set sooner or later. For now though I have to save for a few other projects done the pipe. So, I'll probably only get 2 at the most this year.

So I pulled the trigger and picked up a user for $32 bucks. I looked up the stamps a few times but am curious about the dots on each end. I read the one dot on each side was pre 80, but that was on the 110. Does this apply to others as well?
Also, should the dots be closer to the model number for that to be right.

The seller didn't give any info at all. It seemed risky but oh well it's done now.

Curious on year and steel. Also, I tried to study the FAKE Buck thread but didn't process it all. Is it fake?

Thanks again

Edit: Just read in the Date Thread that the dot system is for the 110,111, & 112 only, which Im sure you guys already knew. Uhmm, makes me wonder on mine.

Looks like a three liner to me. The dots could have been put there by previoius owner for ID.
Plus a swivel sheath. Not bad for a user at all.

Thanks MaxCast

This knife was found with 6 minutes left so I didn't have much time to research the 2 dots, or whatever they are.

I wrote the seller and he looked under 10x magnification at the marks. He thinks it is a flaw in the steel. He thinks the blade is stainless.

No matter the case it is my first Buck fixed blade so Im looking forward to it. It shipped today and should be here Tuesday.

The dots are no flaw. Buck did some of those I have found them on a 105 as well. Your 119 is a 1981 mfg.. ( based on the spacers) I have the same 119 and that sheath just no dots and my sheath doesn't swivel. They are rare.
Buck used dots to signify many things. Trouble is many of the 'why' was not written down. That swivel sheath was earlier so I wonder about that sheath. Anyway notice the thick convex bevel near the edge. This was made before the full hollow grind style was in place. Which is like mine. The steel on your model is most likely 425M. A good find. DM

Brett, your knife will be a great introduction to Buck Knives, a real American classic. OH
