New to Busse - Advice?

Ah ok, thanks. I'll never part with mine, had it since I was 19, used it to dress my son's first deer. But I'm fallin in luv with Busse, need one in my hands!

Sounds pretty sweet.

My first and so far only proper Busse is a Basic 8 LE (satin finish).

Live the Busse life like there is no other. Study, learn, peel back the layers of knowledge. Research back through threads on BF. I actually achieved an absorption so complete that Bussekin invaded my dreams! This journey is not for the casual student nor the faint of heart. One day, it will come to you. And inside you will beat a - Steel Heart...;-)

How would a Basic 9 be for a first [Busse] knife?
The Basic 9 is an excellent choice! I bought my first Busse in late 2001, a Basic 9. I was so impressed that I eventually acquired a full set (at that time) of Basics: a B3, B5, B7 & B9. The B9 is still one of my all-time favorite Busse knives.

You learn fast, buying your first Busse three minutes after it was posted ; many times around here if you snooze you lose. Congratulations on your first one ; more will likely follow.

Save up lots of money, then sit an monitor the Busse forum, Jerry has been releasing new knives that are gone in less than 2 weeks. When you see what ya want..snag it.. also, if you are impatient check out knifehunter.com

It will stop when it ends, Tim. Occasionally it will diminish, then comes back ever stronger. B9 great first choice, Murman...;-)

How would a Basic 9 be for a first knife?

Mine was a TGLB, but I bought a Basic 11 off the for sale section as well an a basic 8 and a scrap UK. Lots of good deals up there. I would also add that even if what you get isn't what you thought it would be you are almost certainly going to be able to at minimum sell the knife for what you paid or possibly more. I sold the TGLB for quit a bit more then I paid for it. Other then that, the basic series of knives are awesome. Res-C is as addictive as INFI. May the force be with you.

Is there a way to post knives I'm interested in acquiring? It seems I can't post in the sale forum as I'm not a gold member...

Hey Murman, Welcome

I'm thinking a nice chunk of Infi will be finding it's way to the website sooner rather than later and these Wednesday offerings are just little treats for active Hogs. When it does, think about whether that's the right knife for you or spend some time on the exchange to get a feel for pricing, then grab one there. Don't worry though, because you won't stop with just one.

I'm not sure if Hogcult is still around but that was a great site to see models and dimensions. If not, then BusseCollector is a great resource for specs, but then you will need to google individual models to see the exact design. The quality of the knives I don't think can be touched by anything out there. You may try to dig up some of Nos's old destruction test videos.

As for the the quality of the community, that'll be self evident from just hanging here a while. :)
