New to Busse and have a few questions.

Can't go wrong with either the standard length SFNO or the slightly longer NMSFNO.
Slightly shorter and a good all rounders are the SJTAC and ASH-1.
For all round camp/carry the FSH is on the heavy side but that all depends on the person.
Some of the old school BUSSE's to consider are the SHE, NOE, and SHSH models.
Have fun and let us know if there is any other questions.

Thanks for those links. I lost a good portion of my day there lol. I did check out the bay, noticed that gentleman and his prices...wow is all I can say.

I did end up sending an email into the info@bussecustomshop.com to ask a few questions. Just waiting for an answer.

Thank you all for all the help and advice. It's a mark of a great community and very helpful when I can't get my hands on the blades. You all are top notch!

Thank you, Sir. You will be surprised how soon you will be answering other newcomer's questions...;-)

Welcome to our little corner of the knife universe.

Full on, from scratch, customs may not be cost effective. The Shop may, instead, have existing blade blanks available, or available in some time range. Those blanks could then be used to make a Busse 'custom' knife for you.

In the 7 - 8" range, the obvious first choice would be the current TGLB.

other ideas, (may or may not be avilable from Busse, may have to go aftermarket)

SFNO
NMSFNO
FSH
SAR 7
SAR 8
SARSquatch
Basic 8
Basic 7
MoJo
MoFo

I love it when somebody "new" asks questions, because I am relatively new to Busse myself. I always read posts by "new" Busse owners/prospective owners and the answers given by the experienced people, as I always learn something new myself!:D

Why not make a trip to Blade in about 7-8 weeks? Busse will be there with many models, and lots of good people

I told my wife we need to go to Blade one year, but it should be after we have saved plenty of money saved up for it and paid off all of the credit cards!

Got the response, now I'm just trying to decide which one to get, vot it narrowed down to the sfno, nmsfno, and tg. Can't order it until next month after my wedding though, so llenty of time to try and decide.

The only thing causing me hesitation is that i would have to mod the nmsfno a little. Decisions decisions

Hard to choose one...

Mine would surprise few here though...

Understand that the NMSFNO is a big knife.

Nuclear Meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw
Blade Length: 8”
Overall Length 14”
Weight 21.5 oz.

Contrast this with the fighter-utility carried by generations of grunts.

Kabar
Blade length 7"
Overall length 11-7/8"
Weight: 10.9 oz.

The NMSFNO is a whole different ball game. Make no mistake; it's a great knife. But...

When I think about mine, I compare it with my Bushwhacker Mistress.

Bushwhacker Mistress
Blade Length: 10.25”
Overall Length 16.25”
Weight 22.4 oz.

The BWM is about the same trouble to carry, and use for small applications, as the NMSFNO. The weight is about the same. But it has the advantage of a trail-knife sized blade.

It's BWM for the win!

If you want Hang On Your Belt And Forget It, look for a smaller Busse.

Just be aware that all three of those are in the 7 - 8" range, so potentially overlapping in utility. OTOH, like many Busse owners have done, you get 'em, try 'em, pick 'em, sell the others.

Yeah I'm looking for a medium large knife in the 6-8 inch range. I was originally going to get a bk9, but too much work to get it where i want0 it while i still have my junglas to mod. So I figured nows the time for a beast Busse. Just trying to find the right one now lol.

Good advice by resinguy. Not like you can sample Busse's at K Mart. Purchase a few you think would be a good fit. Find the best, sell the rest. But don't be surprised if you get attached to your collection. I have yet to sell one of my 25 Bussekins...;-)

That is a very wise decision!
Some of the rates that credit card companies charge these days is nothing but legalized theft! :grumpy:
