If you're Commander looks like this, it is a chisel grind.

Notice the lack of sharpened bevel, zero grind.

If it looks like this, it's "V" ground:

Wouldn't it have to have a secondary bevel to be a v grind? I'm no mogul of knife terminology but I know enough to tell this blade is only ground on one side of the edge.

I think I'll turn it into a true v grind. Might take me a while but I'll take before and after pics and maybe a couple of my benchmades that have real v grinds to show you what I mean.

I have a mini commander with a date of 2013. Mine came super smooth with no break in time or cleaning needed. They are liner locks not frame locks. The blade on the commander is a V grind, the blade is ground on both side to a V, but the edge is chisel ground with the bevel on one side only. Here is a link that might help you.
