New to Fiddleback Forge...

I enjoyed knife collecting previously ranging from production folders to hand made custom knives made with both stock removal and forged methods with sizes ranging from small knives to big ones. Somewhere around ~2008/2009... Maybe around the time that Andy first started making knives... I went to my last knife show in Little Rock, Arkansas and bought my last two custom knives... A large Mike Ruth fighter and a sweet Jerry Lairson competitive/camp chopper. Shortly thereafter I made a conscious decision and just decided to put my knife interest/hobby on hold! I stopped going to knife shows, visiting the knife forums as well as buying knives.

A few weeks back I got the urge again and I purchased a knife from DLT Traders (a Bark River "Sahara") and because of that purchase they put me on their e-mail list and later sent me an email partially featuring the Fiddleback Forge!

Whoa... These were some neat and interesting looking knives! So I lurked at the FF website and visited all the FF dealers and then started lurking here at the FF subforum learning all about the different models. I wanted to get just one... But I ended up "sharking" two knives at a recent Fiddleback Friday followed by another one last week!

And already my wife has asked me about the new PayPal transactions coming through!!

Here is the one that came today... A Lonestar EDC 1/8" A2 SFT with natural and yellow liners and dyed elderbox burl scales:

Here the Lonestar along with some of my other fixed blades:

Top to bottom:
Howard Hitchmough...drop point hunter with TT and stag scales (non-user).
J.L. Rodebaugh... forged Damascus Bird and Trout with brass guard, iron wood and copper spacers and stag handle.
Wayne Hendrix drop point hunter (model#4) with bead blasted finish TT with dark green linen micarta scales.
Murray Carter forged drop point neck knife with bone scales.

Welcome aboard. Nice post too. Thank you for your support. That lonestar turned out nice. I really love that model. Looks like you're local, so don't hesitate to drop by the shop for a visit one day. Also, you should try to attend the GA Custom Knifemakers Guild meetings (quarterly). They are such a good time for a knife enthusiast. Then there is Carl's hammerin up at the beautiful Trackrock campground. Its an unbelievable experience every time I go.

WARNING!!! They are like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one...

Welcome aboard!

Welcome Krug! I'm lucky in that my wives likes knives as well, just not quite as much as I do. So my answer was to just get her Fiddlebacks of her own. She has edc-ed a Bushboot for the last four years since she noticed I stopped edc-ing mine and snagged it. I finally got her a blue one about a year ago and it goes where she goes.

Thanks again everyone for the friendly welcome! :)

Visiting the shop sometime would be great and the Hammerin and GA Knife Guild meeting sounds pretty cool too.

I don't think my wife would carry an EDC although she seemed to like the tiny CRKT Turtle that she gave me for Christmas some years back. She does appreciates a good kitchen knife and we already have quite a few including four handmade Japanese style slicers. My daughter seems to like knives and i've already given her two inexpensive production knives. She would probably like a small Fiddleback... Perhaps as a Christmas or Birthday present? (Runt, Pipsqueak or Esquire with Shadetree purple burlap scales?)

I missed the SharkFest on Friday afternoon because I was driving with my family up to Connestee, NC just south of Brevard on Hwy 276. My parents have a summer lake house there and we planned to do a little mountain biking over the weekend. The Brevard area has some excellent Mountain Bike areas... Pigsah National Forest as well as Dupont State Recreational Forest which has around 10475 acres.

Yup, I was just thinking the same thing :)

Nice pics Krug, looks like a great time!

Krug, you are practically in my backyard. How long will you be here?

We had to leave this afternoon... We did manage to get in a good morning ride and a quick swim after to cool off before packing up and returning home.

Here is the other knife that I scored along with the Bullfrog Bowie... A Fiddleback Fighter- 5/32" A2 TT with Ruby Burlap and black and white liners. I'm actually quite pleased this one... I really like how the handle shape fits/feels in my hand and with the TT the balance on this knife is excellent.

FF Fighter along with one of my other fighters (similar size):

Shawn McIntyre forged fighter with Damascus guard, stainless spacer and curly maple handle. (non-user)
