I am new to this Forum all though I have been reading a lot over the past couple of week's. I do have several knives though but no Old Timers to speak of until recently.
I am a member of several Forums that I visit at least a couple times a day (before and after work) these forums are al gun Forums. Guns are really my passion but I do also Love knives.
When I was dating my wife approx. 34 to 36 years ago while we were still in high school, I loaned her a Old Timer Knife. She let her sister borrow it and I never saw that knife again. It was a one blade Locking Hunter folding knife.
Over the years and due to low paying jobs trying to buy a house and just the general life drains on a pocket book and due to starting and raising children I never replaced that knife. Recently the knife has been on my mind and decided that now with a decent job for the last 20 years and one girl that has become a Nurse and one graduating this year from high school I decided that I was going to replace that knife. After reading on the internet about the company and bankruptcy I ended up looking at several Old Timers and bought a USA knife to replace the one that I lost due to my now sister in-law. I have also bought a couple China made and some more USA knives. I like the USA knives, well because they are USA made and they are closer to the original that I lost but I have found out or at least it seams to me that the Taylor knives are just as good and very well made. I purchased the fo;;owing in the last couple of weeks.
1. 223OT-Taylor China knife
2. 15OT - N.Y. USA
3. 6OT - Schrade + USA
4. 125OT Lock Blade - Schrade USA
5. 125OT - Non lock Blade Taylor Made
6. 108OT - USA Made
7.SCPROM-13-3 - Old Timer Taylor made. You have to Love a Large Bowie
8. 148 Schrade - USA
The following pictures are in same order as above list/

I really Like them all but I have to say that my 2 Favorite are the 223OT very nice with the clip on the back and thumb stud , and the SCPROM-13-3 Who does not just Love a Large Heavy Bowie.

I really just wanted to say HI and give a little about myself.

Welcome to Bladeforums, and especially welcome to the Schrade Collectors area. I can't believe someone found this sub-forum for their first post; it seems many members have been on Bladeforums for years and don't even know we exist. :)

I happen to also collect USA-made Old Timers.

Thanks Bob, I appreciate the welcome. I am into Old Timers because of my age and time I was raised as a teenager (1970's) they were really my first knife and have longed for one every since I lost the original I had. I have been on a buying spree. Google made finding this sub forum very easy, in fact it was about the only Old Timer Forum that I really found.

Maybe you're a year or two older than I am, but my very first pocketknife ever was a 34OT Old Timer. My grandfather gave it to me at age 8, in about 1977.
Interestingly though, because they were so common I had absolutely no interest in collecting them. That changed in 2004 when Schrade went out of business, and when the market was flooded with deeply discounted closeouts.

In addition to the forum here, you should be aware of the Collectors of Schrades R Us website. Lots of great pictures and information on Old Timers and other Schrade knives. In fact the site is run by a fellow Bladeforums member, and several other members have their collections highlighted in the Collectors' Corner there.

Here's a photo, now greatly outdated, of my Old Timer collection.

Thanks for the web page Bob, I have visited that site in my ventures to find more info on Old Timers. I did not give it much of a chance. I did not care for the lay out of the site. I did go back and revist it and will be reading a little more from that site. Very nice Schrade collection.

Hi from Australia jstanfield103, good to see an Old Timer Collector. Keep those Taylor knives away from the Schrades.
Bob, do you have a better photo - I would like to see what you have in there.
I can see the Red Bone set, I would like them for Christmas if you do not want them... Ken

Since that photo was taken I've added a shelf in that cabinet, and each shelf is about filled.

I doubt you'd even want my red bone set because the serial number is so high. Not really worth collecting unless the serial number starts with "00." :)

I will try to get some more updated pics today if I get the chance.

BINGO! Welcome to the Schrade forum, jstanfield103! Nice to have you; don't forget the search function. There are some dandy threads in there.

Now available for your Christmas Wishing...

Bob, I will collect any Schrade Red Bone Set; any sets from 0100 to 0500 is OK.
That makes that Old Set of yours expectable; if you decide to send them to me for a Christmas Present, I will pay for the postage.

This set # 0012, went to a collector in Western Australia early this year. He has been looking for a set for many years!

If you look closely at the bolsters on the Classics in your set; you will find a small Schrade etch or stamping.
I have a number of those knives in “white boxes”; only the sets have that etch/stamping on them... Ken

He should sent that #12 bone set along to me, as it matches the serial number of the framed Old Timer Classics set shown in the photos above. Then you can have the worthless 0381 set. :D

Im crushed...;)
Actually I'm looking for a better layout of the page. Suggestions welcome.

I had collected each of the individual Old Timer Classics before finding the framed set. As you've said, they didn't have serial numbers when sold individually. My framed set is #12.

Bob, the etch/stamping I am talking about, looks like a man with a hammer. Maybe making a knife?

I never noticed that before. I've only had the display case open once, or maybe never. But going upstairs to check I saw the little "Schrade man" hammering away on his anvil. That is definitely not on the Old Timer Classic knives sold individually.

It's the same Schrade hammer and anvil logo as the blue here, except in outline form.

I really need to open that case up and take detailed photos of the bolster stamp...

Jstan please fell free to join in any time! Ken

Bob, I have about six or eight of those Clasics NIB and in tins, in my collection.
My set came in the original box, with all the knive in their white boxes and paperwork.
The previus owner had never taken them out of their boxes.
As I was seting up the Display and hanging it on a wall, I notest that little man on the bolsters.
Like you, I went and looked at the other Old Timer Classics I had; I find new things every day.
I like that one too; send that one with the others, your sending me for Christmas...Ken

Hi Larry, Please let me know if I can help with ant thing.
I have quit a large collection of some of the less expencive items, Schrade Collectors did not collect. Now they are very hard to find.
The knives Schrade had made in China, were missed because they were stamped "China".

This is my Prized "OLD TIMER" to my knowledge, these are very hard to find. This one is still in its' original cardboard box. ... Ken
