Hello all! I've been hanging around for a while, and I must say that I have been favorably impressed by these forums in general and this one in particular.The courtesy and maturity demonstrated by the members here strongly influenced my decision to join!
I've been a knife enthusiast for most of my life.I recently purchased the BAS khuk offered by a member here(great guy by the way.) All I can say is WOW! I really should have gotten a HI khukhuri a long time ago. The knife is beautiful and it just feels "right." I have a feeling that I'm going to be on this forum a lot. Well, at least as much as severely limited typing skills allow! :o

Thanks everyone! I bought a British Army Service model. The handle is from Dune. I'm a big fan of the books.
 
Good snag, Stilgar. The BAS is a good starting point.

'Dune' is one of my alltime favorite SF books. Heresy, I know, but I never liked the sequels. And I didn't see the movie. But my copy of the paperback is tattered, and I can't count the number that I've given away over the years. Of course, some will say that it's because I'm numberly challenged, and only gave away 2, but we'll let that go.
 
Nope, Dave, we've established who "oldtimer" is. Stilgar, on the other hand, appears to have the capacity to post reasonably well, in a manner unlike any iteration of Burafan to date.

That doesn't mean Stilgar isn't Burafan, but let's give him a chance to continue to post. If he isn't BuraFan it will become obvious.

Stilgar, we're having problems with a repeatedly banned poster. You've posted just as we are doing away with his latest incarnation. Sometimes he has another identity waiting in the wings.

Yes. I screwed up and moved the thread without leaving a redirect on this forum so you could all see what happened. My mistake, sorry.

Recalling BF's fear of his address being known, I asked if it was necessary for me to post John Cade's residential address? BF contacted me directly within 2 or 3 minutes.

The thread has been copied to the Backend forum to await Supermod intervention.
 
Gentlemen,please allow me to assure you that I am NOT the person that you are referring to. If that individual has caused so many problems I understand your caution. One of the reasons that I spent quite a while lurking was to get a feel for how things are done here. Your intolerance for uhh....problem posters is appreciated.

As I noted, your writing skills are far above the banned person's abilities.

Welcome stilgar. Glad you like your new BAS. Have you figured out which kami made it? You can find a guide near the bottom of this page if you haven't.

Thanks for the link. The BAS was made by Sher. Hollowdweller, I actually think that you guys do pretty well. I've read other boards and geez.....if I wanted to argue about trivialities I'd just stay at work!
