Hi everyone!
My name is Chris and I live in Windsor (Ft. Collins) Colorado. This whole computer thing is new to me so I hope I send this right! My screen name is SkagSig40. I used my old nickname and favorite pistol to come up with it. I thought it sounded ok. I'm excited to talk with all of you. I've been following the forum for some time now on a friends computer. I just now got my own. I bought my first khukuri from Uncle Bill back in 1993 and have been hooked ever sence! I now have a respectable collection and a few "war stories" to traid with all of you fine folks! could someone please respond to this letter so I know I'm doing all this right? thank you!!! Can't wait to talk to all of you!!

Welcome!..You are gonna like it here----I'm kinda new myself and was lurking in the shadows for quite sometime--but there is a lot of wisdom and friendly people here!...Glad you can make it!

You are doing right, Chris, but don't let it worry you. You'll be as weird as the others in this bunch or bananas in no time.

Welcome to the HI Cantina and Stage Stop. It is called that because I mentioned that the usual occupants reminded me of the bar scene in the Star Wars Cantina ( the first one ).

Uncle Bill added the "Stage Stop" because everyone coming thru Reno stops in case Bill happens to be unpacking a new shipment from Nepal with some surprises in it.

Another regular talked about the resemblence of the HI forum to the sci-fi book Callahan's Cross-Time Saloon by Spider Robinson. That's because Uncle tolerates what appear to be tangents by asking "What has this to do with khukuris? Everything." And because a number of people who hand out here act like very polite, gracious, and gentlemanly Great White Sharks until a UBDOTD / Uncle Bill's Deal Of The Day is posted and sets off a feeding frenzy.

Anyway, this is the cyberversion of the old general store, with cracker barrel and wood stove, so pull a chair up a comfortable space to the fire and set a spell.

You too, scalawag, and any others I might not have said howdy to. Bill moved about 3 weeks back and still ain't found everthing that's gonna get found yet, and I'm on a sleep deficit meself, so both of us missing something or someone is happenin' a whole bunch more than it use to. Don't worry that it's anything you did or any way ya acted.

Khukuri FAQ

Well, SkagSig40, you finally made it over. Not that I have anything against KnivesForums.com, but I just don't see the same activity over there. And I visit there at least as much as I do here.

Welcome, have fun, and keep a fast mouse hand ready, 'cause we seem to be in constant competition (though friendly)

to get that perfect Khukuri. Don't worry about making mistakes, or "putting foot in mouth". I do it all the time, extract foot, have a beer, and continue on.

We also have a number of people that have their "better halves" involved with the HI Forum, so you might introduce your intended to this group of reprobates.

Remember that one Khukuri always leads to another, and HIKV is not a curable disease!!

Welcome,
You have found the most helpful, laid back and knowledgeable group I have yet encountered on the Net. Being on the young side of the age spectrum present here, I have greatly enjoyed learning from all these guys and I look forward to learning from your 'war stories' as well.

You`re fine Chris. Don`t listen to Rusty.

I heard that he used to work for the govt.; stater I think.

He`d likely shoot your lights out, soon as look at `em.

No account anyway.

I'll take one or the other of the Fifth's FNG.

added on edit:

On reflection, it seems I am praised with faint dam*s.

Oh well, we are behind the times out here on the West coast. My body is up and I hope my mind will soon follow.

Welcome Chris and Scalawag and like my Bro Rusty to anyone else I might have missed.
It's good too see the Cantina and Stage Stop getting a bunch more members that love khukuris and HIKV.

Ya gotta watch "Ol'Jim" though.
He keeps saying that he's immune to the HIK Virus and that he just buys "K's" to protect the rest of us from ourselves.
smile.gif

When/If we get to the Florida Konvention I thnk I will pass on some of my meds to him and buy Ol'Jim a couple of beers.
That will take care of him while the rest of us gets to pick and choose our HI Khukuri's of the day.

After the meds and beers one of those little pointy headed topis might actualy fit Ol'Jim!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Cantina, Chris, where almost everything goes, even khukuris! As Rusty alluded to the "Khukuri Frenzy", there are some pretty nice pieces that turn up here.

Anyway, welcome.

:
Rusty my younger Bro, have you done been 49'en in yer past lives?
smile.gif

I was gonna reply to that the 1st time I posted, but forgot until I just reread the posts.

Years ago before the influx of so many Yonegis the Big Summer Powwow was held in our Mohawk Park which used to have many, many ways in and out of and many, many real backwoods areas where different groups of us ndns would go for the 49's that had nothing to do with any ndn
clubs.
Yeah, there was drinkin and dancin until dawn every night the powwow was going on with several independent drums set up out in the woods and with big fires to dance around.
It was wonderul as on a still night the drums could be heard for miles
Ahhhh, the good ol'days!!!!!!!

There's much more, but that's all I can freely write about without embarassing myself and everyone else.

And now I refuse to go to that particular ndn club's dances no matter where they are held.
They have lost their honor IMO as well as many Elders that feel the same way.
It's really very, very sad as they used to be one of the best ndn clubs around.
