New to knife making, First knife almost finsihed. Have questions.

You know.... that cleaned up quite nicely. I like that! It has a wonderful rustic look that goes well with the patina on that blade. And, the sheath is perfect. Are you going to stain it or otherwise apply a finish it?

Good for sticking to your guns and your original plan.

I have some minwax oil stain. One shade is really yellow and Im not diggin it, the other is rosewood not feeling that either. I dont know what to do about finish. I'd like to put something on it. Any ideas?

That looks really great for a first knife actually. At least a lot better than mine! I'd go with a nice deep cherry stain followed by some shellac to seal it. I think the redness of the stain would go well with the copper habaki and the color of the handle. Whatever way you choose, I wish you good luck in knife making.

OK this is the knife final! Sanded off poly and used stain then sealed with a rub in satin finish, i think the finish it goes well with copper and sheath.

You cant see the pattern in the blade real well in the pics, but its there!

Thanks your suggestion made me change the handle color/finish. Did not use shellac though, its like a shell I wanted satin oil rubbed look. Now that i know what that looks like
