I have started collecting knives with in the last two months. I have three knives so far they are Kershaw Leek straight edge, Spyderco dragonfly with H1 straight edge blade, and just received a SOG Flash II Tanto partially serrated black TiNi. Now I'm looking to add to collection, but I do not know what to get. So I am looking for recommendations to help find my next knife. I am looking for a folder preferably. It has to be under 4 inches CT law and price range is $100-$125. Any suggestion would be great thank you.

You need a Benchmade with an Axis lock

I recommend the Bone Collector. You can find them for around $125.

The possibilities are endless.

Spyderco Delica, Chaparral, PM2, Native, Cat, etc,
Benchmade Mini Griptilian (can be found for around $60), Presidio Ultra.
Kershaw Blur, Kershaw Cryo (for less than $30!), Buck Vantage Pro, SOG mini-Aegis, etc.

Lots of good options.

svord peasent, sak, opinial, all inexpensive quality folders all can be had with change to spare

Second vote for Mini-Grip or Griptilian. Wide array of color choices, via the "Customize a Griptilian" section on Benchmade's website, or get one and get it pimped here on Bladeforums.

And a Ken Onion/CRKT Ripple. Available in two sizes, two handle colors, and two handle materials: a steel one for those who equate weight with strength, and an aluminum for those who like a lighter pocket knife.

Thanks to UnknownVT for the excellent comparo pic!

Benchmade mini-Grip. Google Doug Ritter and go to his site. It will direct you to the vendor of his Ritter Mini-Grip, which is within your budget but has upgraded blade and it is stonewashed. And it has fantastic resale value.

Cant go wrong with Para 2 or get you a frame lock Sage 2. Sounds like you have the bug, Enjoy. Soon you will be wanting Sebenza's, Striders and Hinderers!

I'd have to recommend the Benchmade 710 if you want to add a larger knife to your collection - blade length is 3.9 inches . It's a little pricey at the moment, regrettably, but it can be had for <$125 if you look hard enough. It arrived in my collection later than it should have and its one of my favorites ever since.

I have a Spyderco Caly 3.5 and an earth brown Paramilitary 2 in S35VN on the way after taking a knife break during the holidays.

Don't push yourself let it float in naturally .

Sound advice. Cruise to a local dealer and just fondle everything you can. See what attributes you like and don't like. What lock style, blade profile and deployment you like. You might find that knife that just speaks to you. But you may take someone's advice and end up hating a knife.

Thank you to everyone that posted. There are some really good choices and ideas that were posted. You all got me pointed in the right direction. Also what is a good place to purchase these knives? I have been going on to amazon to get knives.

A good place to buy would be the Forum Exchange. You can't sell there, without a paying membership, but buying is open to all. Good chance to get your hands on an "experienced" knife at a lower price point.

There is also a list of Bladeforums authorized dealers. A good way to re-invest in the forum, and an easy gateway to the more expensive knives you'll soon be drooling over.

It seems to me like you have three of the same thing. I recommend branching out and try some different styles of knives. There's so much out there...

Fixed blade hunting/survival style knife. Traditional pocketknife. Swiss Army knife. Modern gentleman's folder. Regional knives from everywhere in the world.

Since you asked. :)

Excellent advice. Most of my favoite knives were just found. No reccomendation can replace a knife that you just plain like. Unless you just want to brag names or prices paid, in which case you'll never find a perfect collection.

Thanks I did some looking around today at a lot of knives and went to knife shop. I think I'm going to Purchase the Paramilitary 2 next. I did some looking on the exchange for people selling, but I could find any that were not sold.

You should get a mora and an opinel. Really inexpensive and a great addition to a collection. In my opinion they are fine examples of working knives and too cheap not to have in my opinion. The mora really impressed me for its price and im used to crk, microtech, high end spydercos etc.

Seriously this; if you don't have at least one axis lock you're cheating yourself.

Though I'd recommend a different model personally:

Small: 707 (~3")
Medium: 940 (~3.4")
Large: 710 (~3.9")

All three feature the axis lock and a lot of blade for the pocket space and weight you give up.
