I have the chance to get a Vcella model 13 kiln for 950. It's not brand new and the latch is broken but other than that it is in great shape. Should I get it? Is it worth that price?

It looks like they are about $1300 new. The dimensions for that size are 12x12x6.5 high. If that will be big enough for what you do then it may be a good deal unless you have had no luck finding a used one locally. it is 220 v and looks like it doesn't have a digital controller? (may be wrong).

For $950 you may be able to get a sugar creek kiln with the digital controller. Not sure you could get shipping to Canada though.

Unless you want to make false teeth, jewelry, or artcrafts, leave it alone. Actually, at that price, leave it anyway. It is a ridiculously high price. IIRC, that is a dental kiln.
You can get a new knife making oven for $100 more.

I thought it was rather much for it but the seller wont go past 900. It's just hard to get a kiln around here without paying half again for shipping. This one was as local as it gets, about 10 miles away. The control is analog. Im going to pass it up and hope I dont kick myself later hehe. Thanks guys.

Tattoo F - I'm not sure if Peter Wile has sold his Evenheat yet - likely - but, I just don't know. Call him maybe?

An oven like that usually sells for $200, used. I have given away several. The one you describe sounds well used and not in great shape. If you really want it, offer $300 and leave your card with the offer on it. Tell the owner that if they can't get their (near new) price, you will pay $300....no more.

The oven could be converted to PID control for $100-150, and used for small carbon steel knives. It won't do large blades or stainless steel. ( Don't let the fact that the temp readout goes to 2000° fool you. My car speedometer has 200 KPH on it,too.)

Ah, thanks Stacy, that explains it a little better. He said it was near new but with a latch missing?? I thought the size was ok but I didnt want to pay that much for a used kiln, when I can get a pottery kiln for 250 (No, Im not getting a top load pottery kiln). I would like something that can hit the higher temp ranges (2500 ish) so it looks like i go back to planning my own build. Oh, and just so you can see what I mean, http://novascotia.kijiji.ca/c-buy-a...ONIC-CONTROLLER-NEW-UNUSED-W0QQAdIdZ368734870
