Dudes, I bought an old spec 4.1 from a guy on Facebook. To start a little off topic: True facts about the knife become more than a little questionable when there were two previous owners. "Never used, shaving sharp" showed up on my door step as used looking, somewhat dull and a modded sheath.
Back on track! I know MANY here have or have had a 4.1 and the old spec models have been around for years, but for me, this is a really big deal.
I've said before that I like Beckers and their area was my first Bladeforums experience. My bk16 is an awesome knife. The size and design are perfect. In my early days in the Becker forum I would always see the very rare and coveted saber ground 16. Many of you know the saber 16 was only made for a tiny bit before it was replaced by the full flat ground version. I don't know if it was the mystical quality of the saber 16 or if I just always liked the look of saber ground blades, but I really liked the variation and disliked how it was so hard to come by and that any that were available were already used and modded.
A while later I saw a youtube review of a GSO sk4 and then the GSO 4.1 and another 4.1 and another. This GSO had all that I loved about that elusive bk16 (except maybe the world famous handle) and more. It had a similar size and the saber grind, but yet it came with a kydex sheath and micarta handles AND it was offered in several super steels. Add to that flawless after flawless review and a video of some nutcase
D) rappelling using the 4.1 (edc) as an anchor point and I was sold!
I had quite a long journey to get here and never really had plans to get an old spec 4.1, but the opportunity presented itself and I couldn't pass it up. With what I described above, when I finally got this knife in my hand it took me back a couple years to when I thought a knife like this was too good to be true. As most of you already know, this is a sweet knife and a really great design. I immediately connected with it way more than my 3.5 and almost as much as my 5. I'm really looking forward to getting familiar with it. It fits my hand very well. It has good weight and balance with a filling handle. Somehow i felt like I had held it before, like the feel was instantly familiar.
Not only do I feel like one of the cool kids because I finally have a 4.1, but I have my first camo scales! The camo canvas seemed to be one of the most popular old spec handles, so when I see it I get a little nostalgic.
Note the modified sheath and extreme kydex scratches. I was so happy to get this knife, but there really is nothing like getting a GSO straight from the company.

Despite some material being removed from the top of the sheath, the click is still awesome and the retention is very strong.
Old school logo.

With the bk16.

Great fit in the becker sheath if I'm feeling extra tactical.
