Age can be determined by the tang stamp if it says Schrade Cut Co it is pre 46 if it says Schrade Walden post 46. Now the knife you have is quite rare however a few of these were made. They were made in 14K and in gold plate. The 14K ones which it would seem yours is are the rarest of these. I had an ad from this vintage of knives ( not exactly the same one ) if memory serves it would have been late 40tys more likely early fiftys. As I said it could be either but I guess early Schrade Walden ( with no USA ) just Schrade Walden NY. These knives fall into a niche in collecting for those who collect gents knives and those who collect all Schrade patterns. The plated versions were the second less expensive line the 14 K were the top often ordered and engraved for executives or as retirment gifts. Engraved versions were sold mostly in jewelry and mens stores. Now here is the kicker and what you should look for, a very few of these were sold by TIFFANYS and were so marked these are the premium ones looked for because now you have another breed of collector ( who collects such items ) as well as a very very limited number of items. Not engraved ( unless it is someone well known ) 14 K and TIFFANYS along with the rarity of the pattern make it a nice collectable item. The value of this piece is unusual in that it could bring a fairly high price. Several hundred or more dollars. However the rarity involved means that very few people will recognize it so often something like this will end up the way you got it and for only a few dollars. If you are going to sell it you might want to have all your facts in the ad and above all a piece like this is the classic reason, for having a reserve. ( NOTE Abercrombie and Fitch is another sought after marking however I have never seen this particular model with there name just something to keep in mind also to a lesser extent LL Bean. falls in this catagory). I forget what these went for in Gold but they were quite expensive at the time and as a result very few of the 14K were made. I hope this helps please advise with the exact markings you find, if you have the time. I am curious. I hope this helps LT (PS these may have also been made in silver however I have not run across one the reason I mention it is because most of these lines of gents knives that fell into this group were usually offered all three ways. So if you find one do not be surprised. The silver would be the rarest since for the difference in price most people went with the gold actually gold filled. )
