New to Spyderco

That's a great start. The Delica has been around almost as long as Spyderco. It's one of the knives that defines what Spyderco is about.

But don't get the idea that it'll be your last Spyderco...

Oh, I already have a few I want too.

I love folders, and Spyderco seems to be the unofficial king of folders

So, what are you looking for in a knife? The Dragonfly and Endura are... vastly different knives.

Indeed they are.

My main use is everyday stuff, opening boxes and other things. While I don't plan on using a blade for SD (I practice boxing and weight lifting as hobbies), it gives me a little extra confidence to know I have a blade that would perform in that sort of situation.

I went and ordered the Delica 4, with FRN handles and VG10 steel (combo edge.)

Being a general newbie to the blade world (compared to yall, at least) it seemed like the best of both worlds. It wasn't too big or small. It seems like a great size for EDC and big enough to handle any job.

I think my next purchase will be a smaller one. I'm thinking something from the Byrd series or maybe a dragonfly. I'd like to get a nice SS one, something for the office use.

I rue the day that I traded away my Endura. The Delica would probably be a little big for what I need, but the Endura was nearly perfect.

I'm also a big Dragonfly fan. Love the leaf blades - wish there were more of 'em to choose from. Thinking seriously about ponying up for one in the next few weeks. For now, though...I'm Spyder-less.

Bad situation. :(

hmm I was under the impression the delica was a little smaller than the endura

You may be right. I remember that it was a SpyderEdge with a molded (nonremovable) plastic clip and it said Clipit Endura on it. Either way...wish I still had it.

+1 for a waved Delica or Endura. Here's a vid from You Tube with someone demonstrating drawing a waved Endura into different grips. . .

It takes a bit of practice, but once you get it down, it's really slick. The one drawback is that it can really tear up the edge of your pocket, so as the info sheet that comes with the knife says, "Don't try this in your Armani slacks."

I'm with you bro . I have a D4 wave the fastest opener faster as my boker automatic speedlock cause the clip will get it faster out of the pocket

When blade laws are an issue get the D4 wave instead of the E4 wave with a smaller blade size.

take care:thumbup:
