Whats up guys im new to the forum and wanted to know what you guys would think of the knife i just made! Im not exactly sure what type of steel it is but its stainless and god was it ever a pain in the a** to drill the holes in it...*
its a 4 inch blade and the knife is about 8 inches overall..
handle is made from ordinary plywood that i cut on an angle to show the different layers and that i then glued on the blade and sanded down to the finished product!*
The pins holding everything together are pieces of 5/8 copper pipe!
For the varnish i used minwax satin finish with a little bit of dark brown wood stain in it so it darkens a bit!
Planning on putting a couple more coats on satin finish on it 'till im happy with the results...

Let me know what you think!

Welcome. Why the huge holes? Is there any steel left in the tang above that holenearest the blade?

I just liked the look of it! Yes there is about 3/16 wide left on that side... i know its not a lot but i wasnt planning on beating it up doing hardcore survival stuff or whatever with it anyway...
It was meant to be more of a nice little camping/hunting knife to prep food or cutting up whatever animal i kill haha

I think you have some skill, but do not like the large holes, maybe use smaller copper tubing? Also plywood is pretty soft and will ding up. Great first effort, but use quality blade steel, pins and scales next time. Your skills look better than your materials.

This. Your work looks good, but you need better materials.

Thanks a lot guys!! And yes if i ever use copper tubing again i will for sure try to find some smaller diameter!

I pretty much agree with what the others have said. Good job. Can't wait to see your next effort.

Thank you! Ill keep in mind what you guys said for my next knife!... where can i buy good quality steel? Preferably already heat treated because i dont have acces to anything to do it and my girlfriend would kill me if i had that kind of stuff at our appartment anyway haha

Jantz I believe I spelled it right is a knife supply site. Micarta or some exotic wood for scales/handles would be great.

Thanks! All i know is that its stainless steel and that it was really hard to drill the holes aha even using tiny drillbits to start and slowly going bigger in size it was quite the challenge
