Dear all,

I am new to this forum and have just started collecting knives since 2014. I always liked knives but due to region I am staying (Singapore), its not easy to get hold of nice blades. Until recently I was introduced to a shop around my house and manage to collect some simple pieces but of late, I am buying some better quality blades and I am not sure about my collection. Its getting a little too complicated with too many brands and types, thus I need some advise from senior collectors about what makes your purchase decision.

From the beginning, I was into CRKT folding blades and slowly into fix blades. Then I was introduced to Busse and Bastinelli and some custom making blades. I like Busse for its reliability and feel (am waiting for my Mistress), and Bastinelli for its design (especially the Karambits). I am currently thinking about purchasing Paragon Asheville Steel Warlord and Warmonger by Nemoto (was told by the seller that they are limited edition, are they?), however, I cant find any reviews about the 2 knives. Hopefully someone can advise me about this purchase.

Kindly, advise me about the guidelines of the collection, do you prefer design over quality of steel and feel? or Feel and quality over design? Pleas also give me some advice over the brands to look out for, currently I have stop CRKT and am looking into Busse and Bastinelli, and probably into Paragon by Asheville Steel.

As I am travelling all the time for work, all my better knives are stored back home, I will upload my collection once I am back home.

Thank you in advance

Anson

Anson,
First - welcome to BladeForums.

Regarding the questions about your collection:
It is natural to both shift focus and seek higher quality over time. The important thing to remember is that these are your knives - purchase, acquire, and collect what you want and like. (Have to run - will finish this soon)

welcome man! as said above buy whatever "speaks" to you. I know I personally tried a huge variety of stuff when I first joined here but after time you'll really settle in to a handful of styles once you figure out what you like :)

Hi,

have a look around some Russian knifemakers - best from Russia: Shirogorov, Cheburkov, CKF and other. They produced mainly folders, but not only..
It's very high quality knives and for sure more expensive, but it will cost more in a time.

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply.

HHmore and stonproject I know what you mean and like what RussianWookStock said it just get more and more expensive, especially with the exchange the difficulty bring good stuff into Singapore.

RussianWookStock, I surf some of the Russian made knives.... all I can say is... nice! Have to ask my dealer where and how to get them.

Have decided to buy the Warlord and Warmonger... will post my collections once i figure out how to post pictures online. Furthermore, my collection is sort of like my mistress, cant let the wife knows if not head will roll....

Cheers

Anson

it's not a problem. we ship worldwide and even to Singapore. Haven't any issues. You should have enough money and wish..
Don't tell your wife about secret with prices for knives otherwise she'll kill you. Top Secret! )))

That's a nice collection for only being 2 years into this. I've always like the wharncliffe from bastinelli but never bought one .

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the collection.

Collecting is a pretty personal thing and likely to go through a number of evolutions as your collection, knowledge and time using different knives grows. That is what happened to me over time, anyway. There are so many things to care about, steel types, blade shape, folder vs. fixed, handle shapes and materials and how the shapes work with different blade shapes, aesthetics, etc, etc. The things I focused most on early, I don't focus much on now, but that's probably because I already spent time on those aspects.
