First of all id like to say I'm new to the forums and I've been browsing around and i think I'm gonna like it here...

To introduce myself:
My name is Andrew I'm a college student soon to be police officer and ive been looking for a folding knife to serve as my duty knife...
What I've found so far to be great knives to choose from are as follows:
SOG Trident
Benchmade Griptilian
Kershaw Blur
SOG Mini Vulcan

Ive been trying to decide which one to get, since I'm short on money as it is so i cant get all of them though g** knows i want to!!!

If anyone can help me with this little dilemma or maybe even suggest a different knife. I'm more than welcome for your advice and input..

Thank you all and I look forward to becoming a part of this community

I sent you a visitor message. If you enable your P.M. i have a Blur in S30V you might be interested in.

Ive actually been looking at that knife only in a black coating and if it weren't so far out of my price range i would definitely consider it.
I do appreciate your input though and maybe if money becomes more available i will purchase it.

Yeah it is in stonewashed finish. However, if you decide you don't need the black blade, i can make you a really good deal. It's not in pristine condition. Clips had the coating removed and there's a small scratch on the but of the handle. Otherwise great. No biggie if you're not interested. But if you end up becoming so. Let me know. It's not going anywhere. Good hunting.

Welcome to BF

Out of the four you mention I can definitely recommend the BM Griptilian.

Extremely well made knife, solid and feels good in the hand. Truly ambidextrous and it's hard to beat that Axis lock.

I knew i forgot something. My suggestion/response to your actual question. I second the Griptilian of the above poster. If you are going to be Law Enforcement, however, i would suggest getting something with a longer blade. Take advantage of not being bound by law on your blade size. Unless blade size is a personal issue and you wanna keep it under a certain range, then out of the ones above, yeah...grip.

Of those I'd definitely recommend the Grip. It's a great knife and can easily be had in a coated plain edge which would work well for you.

Oh don't you worry Ive been going through all of his videos, hes one of the guys on youtube that convinced me to buy the Spyderco Tenacious... But it was mainly CutleryLover that made me get it :)

Ive gone over a lot of his videos and i value his opinions very much. So Thank you for suggesting his videos!

It is amazing that most knives designed for law enforcement, military or EMT applications are out of reach, financially, of those people. I find many LEOs around here have cheap knock-offs from the flea market and they drool over my name brand version when we compare.

If I were you I'd save and get either a spyderco military, or police G-10.

Sorry i realise they are not on you list, but considering the price of those knives,
its not TOO far to stretch.

If It's a duty knife, I'd buy the best i could get.

just my 0.02cents

Good luck

My short list for a LEO would be:

Military
Police 3/Regular Police
Tencious
Endura
Pacific Salt

I can't say I like the grip at all. The handles feel thick and cheap to me. I'm not informed as to Kershaw's current offering, but they do have some nice knives and I wouldn't mind carrying one.

weklcome aboard here,,out of the 3 you mentioned id get the benchmade grip...great blade,,

I suggest for you the endura 4 from spyderco. I know it looks weird, but youre getting nearly 4 inches of high quality steel in an ergonomic package. Yeah its frn, and its a lock back instead of a fancier one lock but its more affordable than say a police or military.

The Benchmade Griptilian is one of the most popular knives made. It is solid, has one of the strongest and most secure locks made and carries well.
