New To The Forums And I Already Got Some Questions :)

Can't go wrong with a Blur. If you're looking for a coated blade, Walmart just started carrying an all-black Blur with a tanto blade and serrations. Would make an excellent duty knife imo.

Thanks so much for all of your input im just having such a hard time deciding between them... it was just down to the trident and grip but after seeing so many knives and what they have my list expanded and thanks to you guys haha it has now grown even more!

my choices would be the kershaw JYD 2 composite (65-75$) or the spyderco poloce g10, (117$ at yourcornerstore.com). the JYD has a 3.75" blade and the police g10 has a 4" blade.

Welcome to BF

The only one of those I've handled is the Trident - an OK knife but IMO more useful to a skydiver than LE - that line cutting slot is way too narrow for seatbelt and fit & finish is pretty average. I suggest you save your money and get a BM710 or Spyderco Millitary - but whatever you get make sure you can open it when wearing gloves. We are expected to wear gloves for searches - not just to protect ourselves but also to ensure that any "evidence" isn't contaminated by our prints or DNA.

FWIW I have zero problems opening, using, and closing, my Military with thick winter gloves on. The round hole is enlarged just for this purpose and the long handle provides excellent traction and grip.

The BM710 I find very difficult to open or close with gloves.

i would think the frigid winters and cold weather gear might be a concern as well.

i like the axis lock, but perhaps a lockback would be easier to disengage with winter gloves?

i like the spyderco police (i have one in my duty rotation). or if your budget doesn't permit the p3, an endura is a great alternative.

good luck with your career choice, it can certainly be fun and rewarding!!

I strongly suggest the Grip, mine has been through hell and back. I carried it every day while working on a backcountry trail crew in Montana and Wyoming and it performed extremely well. It has performed beyond my expectations and comes back for more. This is a great knife and it will not disappoint.

I'm really liking the BM710 now its a little easier to choose. The only reason i wanted the Trident is because it has AO and I thought it would be easy to get it out while wearing gloves and in harsh situations.. but for self defense Ive already decided on carrying a KaBar TDI blade on my weak hand side... The Police 3 is definitely a knife I'm interested in.

im gonna back up the BM 550 griptillian as a choice, ive taken ine to hell and back and it has served more than admirably, but if your gonna get a Grip get the 550, i find the thumbhole makes for easier deployment (gloves or bare handed) and if your so inclined you can Ghetto-wave it like i did to mine so as to increase the deployment speed from scary fast to WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM???? fast. (BM 555 minigrip pictured my 550 was unavailable ATM)
