New to this and new to Knife collecting

If your mind is really set on autos, I suggest you look at Böker because they have sub $100 knives that can easily be converted to automatics (because outside USA they ARE automatics). Once you're ready to spend $100 or more on an auto, you can start looking at Benchmade, Spyderco, Microtech, MoD, etc.

Yeah I just want the autos as collectibles, never to leave my home. I live in Texas, and I'm not sure about the laws on EDC knives here, but I don't have an EDC and, again, I can't stress enough, I just want any knife I get to be a collectible.

Welcome to BF!

Texas law is fairly straight forward when it comes to EDC IMO. Here is a link for reference:

Everything is collectible (even Pez dispensers). So I am not sure what you mean in your last sentence.
Do you want to be assured your individual knives grow in value?
Do you want to buy only knives that others will consider collectible?
Do you want only Special Editions, Limited Runs, First Productions?

I wish you the best of luck with your collection. Have a good time here on BF, I know I do every day.

What he means by "collectible" is something he keeps at home at all times and would never actually use or carry.

According to this source, you can't possess, manufacture, transport, repair, or sell switchblades in Texas. Balisongs and full automatic knives are defined as switchblades. The law makes exemptions for antiques and curios, but you gotta convince cops and prosecutors that your collection is strictly antiques or curios.

Well, I might be new and naive to this knife collecting thing, but really my main goal would be to get Knives that would look very good in a glass case, and would also be good user knives, not intending to use any.

Boker for the auto's is a god suggestion. Also look at some of the Italian stilleto's, and the Leverlock. You might also look at the Mikov auto too. Once you get a few of these in the sub $100 range, start looking at the USA made knives around the $100 to $200 range. Not sure how much $ you are willing to play with but that is a factor that you need to decide upon. Welcome aboard and have fun as this is what BF is here for!!:D
