I have been researching. But there is more information than I have brain cells. But one way I learn is by buying and playing with a knife or two. But I think you can see from my extensive collection that I'm not one to go overboard on knife buying. My collection is every knife I own (except a SAK).
You have some really beautiful knives, btw.
All of them are single blade lockers, which is also my preferred pattern btw.
One of the things I've found about traditionals is that there are just so many patterns and combinations of blade and tool combinations. I've had several knives that I thought would be just perfect but once in my pocket and hand for a few weeks, just didn't work out for me. I've gifted away most of them and hold a few out of emotional ties.
One of the nice things about traditionals is that there are plenty of inexpensive production versions from the 70s and 80s kicking around on auction sites for less than $20. And today, there are imported knock offs for about the same price for new.
Can you live with the 3 blades and clip point main of stockman?
Do you prefer the spear point of a Canoe?
Do you like the sturdy feel of the single blade sodbuster?
You might consider buying a few super cheapies to try out a few different patterns. Use this as a way of taking a trial run with a pattern before dropping big coin on a custom version.
