I am going to visit family for Christmas. I thought it would be fun to bring my tomahawks and a target for Christmas Day outside activities. To kill two birds with one stone, I decided to get my uncle and cousins tomahawks of their own.

I have several tools made by Brian Otto, with leatherwork done by his wife Tena. I drew up a plan for the tomahawks and sent them to the Ottos. Their business is Walk By Faith 777.

Here are pictures of the completed first one. What do you think of the design?

I really like the way the short hammer poll looks and the way the arcs from the beard and the hammer meet up in the center of the eye.

It was Brian's idea to take the big flat beveled notch out of the eye. I think that it adds a lot to the overall definition of the head.

He also added the bevel on the top of the hammer. I think that the bevels really add definition to the hammer head. Without them the hammer head would not stand out from the shaft at all.

I agree with your assessment. The bevels really make the design pop. Looks good! What are the dimensions and alloy?

That is gorgeous !
Looks like it'll have just enough weight to make the 6 inch cutting edge quite the chopper.
The grinds are just beautiful, I'd like to have one just like it.

I misquoted the length of the cutting edge. It is four and nine sixteenths. I think that the ratios of cutting edge to overall length, including the hammer are perfect. The radius on the bottom of the beard is IMHO beautiful.

Those curves are are what makes it suit me. Not the first time I have said that today...

I can't wait to have these in hand. I am already figuring a scenario in which I get to keep one.

That is one sweet looking hawk. I love how the beard comes to a spearpoint inline with the handle.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I can't say enough about Brian Otto's work. Everyone should be fortunate enough to have one of his pieces in their collection of tools.

that is a nice hawk,he has some really cool designs I looked up he has done in the past.
